tooquicktostop
The handling must be interesting with all that weight up front of such a small car, a lot of power also, no filter on the turbo is a surprise considering its location !
nige-rz
I'd bet any money within 100 miles something would get sucked up into that turbo and make bits of it. Surely a ridiculous place to fit a turbo?
Westy
Is that a vet engine???? Yes mate! Nuts I know! I'm sure apex performance do these conversions though...it's a popular swap for s13s, s14s etc

Guest ugp
I'm sure it doesn't need me to point out there is no intake pipework either, my guess is it isn't finished. I'd also guess they will be putting a filter on it

I think it does, I was wondering just how long it would take for somebody to work that out, a turbo'd LS engine, thats going to be seriously scary, hope there going to fit some slightly wider rubber to the rear, or thats going to spend a lot of time struggling for grip. garethr
The handling must be interesting with all that weight up front of such a small car, a lot of power also... http://www.flyinmiata.com/projects/LS1/index.php?start=61 As you may remember, we weighed the car when we started this project. At that time, it was 2349 lbs with 51.4% of the weight on the front wheels. That's with a naturally aspirated engine, no turbo. Now, we're at 2536 with 52.6% on the front. We have added slightly heavier wheels (4 lbs total) and the front sway bar isn't installed yet (10 lbs). But the car's gained less than 200 lbs, 62 of which ended up on the rear wheels. I guess the Mazda has an iron block.
dude
Yeah, odd place for the turbo...not even connected to an intercooler??? It wont need an intercooler dude, weve just done a 206 the same, 260 hp and 200 ft lb of torque, stock compression so no lag.

dude
Ah...you learn something new everyday That seems like a rather large turbo though.... Its a rather large engine, moving a rather large amount of air, you would wonder why it needs a turbo, justv the LS puts it in 1000 bike teritory. Is the 206 running a stock engine? Why such a big turbo for a small engine ?
dude
Is the 206 running a stock engine? Why such a big turbo for a small engine ? Small wheels for the size of the body but we are going to try a slightly smaller turbo, it was in the kit the lad bought so we tried it, its ok but I think will be more fun if it comes in lower down, prob try a Subaru turbo on it next. Ah That makes sense Dude, I would love to do a big BHP Renault 5, I had one when I was 19 (long time ago) and made so many mistakes, went through 2 turbos and 3 head gaskets getting it wrong before I sold it, would like a fast Raider
