CJ
I burned a couple of CDR's with MP3 files to play in the car. I used XP burner which I use for my AVI etc and they burnt OK as I can view and play them on the PC. However, despite there being loads of tracks on the CD the first one will only play the first 20 and the second no sound at all - and yet, as stated earlier, they play fine on my PC. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Scott
Is the headunit MP3 compatible?

The first 20 tracks played on the headunit but none after that.

Scott
I would get a decent burner app. Nero is decent for making audio CDs & MP3 Audio CDs.

Scott
But the CD's have burned fine as they play in my PC no problem. Playing in your PC is different from playing on your stereo. The stereo might need a set file system or layout in order to play properly. Also the laser in your PC might be a lot more accurate than the one in your stereo. Kill the burn speed down to around 16x, use Nero and the Job'll be a goodun.
ellis
Agree with that Col - burn at a slower speed - that could well do it.

MaveriK
Also make sure that the cd is burnt in such a way that it finalizes it so no other data can be written to it. PC's will deal with it, some head units will not. I would also be interested to know if you burn the tracks that won't play on a cd on their own and see if they play as some codecs can be exotic. CJ
I've been thinking (a strange concept for me I know) but the burning via the XP burner could not have been correct. I burnt a 100 songs on a CDR There is about 90 mins of play time? If each song was 4 mins, then 20 some odd songs would be the limit eh? I just used Nero and all was perfecto. Can't beat a bit of Julio Englasias when your in the mood

I do that as a matter of course normally I would also be interested to know if you burn the tracks that won't play on a cd on their own and see if they play as some codecs can be exotic. I got confused with that. Burn them where other than a CD?
Scott
You can get mp3 cd players though Col. This is where you put compressed mp3 files onto the cd, 100+ is not unusual. This is why I asked if your head unit was mp3 compatible
