tbourner
We cleared out the spare room yesterday, and found a Galaxy chocolate selection box, including Minstrels, Caramel, Promises etc. all unopened. The best before date on all the packs is 11/03/07, do you think this is going a bit far? I tried 2 Minstrels last night and this morning I have the common cold, do you think the 2 events are related? 1) Should I eat them all? 2) Will I die? 3) Am I an idiot? 4) Is your answer to (3) related to this thread or just in general? suprasize
1. Eat them, the worst your going to get is the s#1ts... you'll be fine.
tooquicktostop
I would not eat them, BB dates are a guide and not an indication of impending doom if you eat the food stuffs beyond the date, 5 years is a bit too far though IMO
Josh
Eat them. Chocolate never goes bad

foodfreak
There was a case of clostridium botulinum ( very nasty food related bacteria) in chocolate a couple of years ago. This bug CAN kill you if not caught quickly, best before dates are usually for quality / spoilage reasons.
mwilkinson
Has the chocolate got a white discolouration? If so I think it will give you the squits!! Still it's a 1 from me, because I'm intrigued to know how it will affect you

tbourner
Avid readers of my "Will I Die?" series will be pleased to know that I haven't yet died, so with this chapter being the longest out of date test so far the results should be interesting. The killer bugs are worrisome, as is the thought of contracting more of this Stupidmofolitus that I seem to have. Maybe I'll try another couple of Minstrels and report back tomorrow. tbourner
You will die eventually..!! Oh you're one of 'them', the kind of person who, when asked if they have a pen, says "Yes thanks", knowing full well what the intent of the question was. You've changed, man. Rob_Mitchell
LMAO, i love these threads. Try and report back, i hope its not the end of your quest
Havard
Oh you're one of 'them', the kind of person who, when asked if they have a pen, says "Yes thanks", knowing full well what the intent of the question was. You've changed, man. I have never changed. I have always been a sarcastic git. If I ever felt that I had changed I would top myself by eating a 5 year old bag of minstrels. Do you have nut allergies? If so you could play Russian Roulette with a bag of Revels..!! H.
Scott
Oh you're one of 'them', the kind of person who, when asked if they have a pen, says "Yes thanks", knowing full well what the intent of the question was. You've changed, man. I'm definitely one of 'them'. I just don't get the laziness built into the language nowadays. Do you have a pen? - Is it really that hard to add "that I can borrow" onto the end? Have you got a loan of £1? - This is my favourite and is just bad England IMO. I usually respond with "from who?". Previously I used "No, I've got my own" but that didn't get quite the confused look as my new response does. Will I die? - Yes you will.... next question. Rob_Mitchell
You and her are the only 2 people i know who ate gone off minstrals, she suffered from stupidmofolitus and sadly past away minutes after this video. Good luck warrior!!
tbourner
Have you got a loan of £1? That's annoying yes, as is 'could care less' which has now been adopted as OK since it's used so widely, but I think wrong English is different to an implication of a question - the latter I'm sure comes from politeness somewhere down the line, allowing the person to offer rather than feeling guilted into complying having been asked directly. You're probably right though it has no place in the modern world where every second counts - to the point FTW.

SupraStar 3000
Give them to your 'other half' and watch her/him scoff the lot. If she/he survives,... simply build a time machine and go back in time to eat the chocolates knowing full well that you'll be ok.
fastcar
I think you should eat the lot in the name of science and keep a video dairy of the effects it has:D
Scott
Give them to your 'other half' and watch her/him scoff the lot. If she/he survives,... simply build a time machine and go back in time to eat the chocolates knowing full well that you'll be ok. There's a bit of a hole in that theory though. You see everyones immune system and digestive system is different. For example I can eat really hot curries until they are coming out my ears and be neither up nor down, other people on the other hand end up on the pan with their rears reaching down to drink the water looking akin to the flag of Japan. The same goes for stomach bugs, I have what is normally described as an iron gut. I very rarely get an upset stomach, in fact I've had one bug in I don't know how many years (and it was a cracker), it must be 10 years at least.
