Tricky-Ricky
From what you describe your O2 sensor sounds OK, however check the volt range and fluctuation, if it doesn't cycle between around 0.2 to 0.9 once every two seconds, IE its a lot slower, or doesn't reach the lower or upper voltage, then it needs replacing. If you look here they do some good price sensors, if you don't want to go the ebay universal route, the sensors here, http://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/CarParts/tabid/144/CategoryID/41/PageIndex/7/language/en-GB/Default.aspx, are Toyota, and i am pretty sure that the Celica and Camry are the same four wire sensor with the same mounting, remember O2 sensors are generic, and as long as they have the correct number of wires, fit and the plug wiring arrangement is the same, it will be OK, there are some labeled front and rear, the rears are for more modern cars that monitor the state of the cat by using a sensor with a slightly slower response rate, which you don't want. Robzki
Thanks, that was just the answer I was looking for. I will test tomorrow and update, I will however get a new set of plugs as they are probably more 20k old when I think about it. It did 'fail' the cat test last year although was perfect the year before after changing the plugs. Thanks for the information. Rob
Tricky-Ricky
Its surprising just how much difference a new set of plugs can make, most people think that its just down to looking at the electrodes and check for wear/erosion, but over time you get an internal degradation, which results in higher resistance, so they provide less and less powerful spark as they get older. Iky
The ones from Sparkplugs.co.uk are slightly cheaper i think. Around £50 Dox-0288 or something on those lines. This is the page: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1278604&parttype=5132 The one you need for a TT is the one where the 'Denso Part' is '2344514', the part is £37.86 but with delivery, tax and everything works out at £63 ish (just found my invoice lol) And like I say this is fitted to mine and has been for a few months and for the LMM meet I got 326 miles out of a tank with just under a 1/4 left Hope that helps
