Chris Wilson
Now this is what you call a minter. Ever seen a MK II Escort that's still this factory fresh? No, neither have I except when they were new. Unique? Probably. Expensive. Damned right, VERY!!! Optimistically so? Who knows, who'd have thought MKI Lotus Cortinas would be near £100K... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=25120&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=html&utm_campaign=2012-2-
ripped_fear
That is insane how clean that car is, has it been in the show room this whole time or somthing.

Havard
You could eat your dinner off that. Erm, well maybe if you turned the car upside down or threw it on the underside and let it fall into your mouth. Come to think of it, you couldn't eat your dinner off that..!! H. Thorin
Super clean, but it's still just an old Escort, and a not that special one at that. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for one, I expect someone will.
j_jza80
I suspect now is the time to be buying reasonably priced, tidy Ford RSs, they all seem to be rocketing in value now. I'll be on the lookout for a tidy mk1 Escort RS turbo from now on, I reckon you'll see at least £1000 a year appreciation from now on. sideexitsupra
Loved the RS1600i when it came out. Remember the first one I saw was red. They were über cool in their day. That is a huge amount of money though.

nige-rz
Super clean, but it's still just an old Escort. Somewhere, some place, on some car forum, there is somebody saying the EXACT same thing about a tidy looking Supra :D Each to their own, I'm sure plenty of Ford boys would love this, however, like you, I'm not one of them. fastcar
that is mad money for an escort but then look how clean it is. its never been touched or even out of the garage from the looks of it. A totally standard Escort RS Cosworth would only set you back 11-13K I know which one i would want
Abz
£26k though, I'd rather pick up an Aston Martin for that money.
st3ven1
This thread is much more work safe than what I was expecting from the title:p Nice but overpriced old ford though.
garethr
Looks cheap next to this Twin-Cam, though
fastcar
Looks cheap next to this Twin-Cam, though Well that is a classic and extremely rare. Would really have to love your fords to want to buy it though. Makes the RS look cheap anyways
stevie_b
Interesting read that. A real classic. This thread is much more work safe than what I was expecting from the title Very good!
Dnk
£26k though, I'd rather pick up an Aston Martin for that money. I'd rather have the Escort, it'll be more reliable and get more attention from discerning car enthusiasts
Dnk
Heres a nice one at Donington back in 2009
Robzki
I must be at the wrong age, I've had mk1 and mk2's and would love another. The mk3 onwards just just don't do anything for me, had several but not a 1600i and even now the plastic dash and torque steer makes me cringe. Not many cars post 1979 are classics in my mind. But that is one clean car, is it worth 26k? I guess its worth whatever an enthusiast is willing to pay. The one in dnks post gives me goosebumps for the right reason
stevie_b
That engine bay on the mkI: you could have a party in there! That's from an era when men were men, and car engines were easier to work on.
