Wall studding finders?

Recommended Posts

Do these actually work properly? I am putting some cupboards and benches up in my "office" and it has plasterboard on studding as it's an attic room. How reliable are they at finding something solid to screw into, access to the rear of the boarding for physical measurement is effectively impossible. Any know good makes and models? Will only get very sporadic use, not looking to spend a fortune ;) Cheers.

Well if it's plasterboard wouldn't it be easier just to use the metal detector type and look for the screws/nails that secure the plasterboard, even a cheap one will find metal. Once you've found the exact position of a few screws/nails going backwards and forwards with the detector it's easy to find the location of the studding.

Or get one from Amazon and send it back to get a full refund when you're finished,it must happen all the time. Large companies like this accept returns without any hastle at all, free return postage and full refund. I haven't done this yet. :innocent:
