tony tt
Anyone watching this? Since when were doormen and women allowed to tackle people in the street? I thought if it was out side their door space they couldnt legally intervene?
hodge
I was a doorman for a number of years, and it was at your own discression wether you interveaned or not. We usually chose not to as the less trouble we got into the better really. I much prefer an easy night. It's not worth getting involved really, I learned that the hard way. I remember 1 night going outside the club and stopping about 15 lads kicking the crap out of 1 bloke against a van. After I dispersed the lads the kid getting kicked wanted to fight me after I'd probably saved his life. Can't understand some people. drift_bear
I really wanted to see this aswell but missed it. By SIA law your not allowed to be involved with anything more than 5ft away from your door/premises. Its more down to the doorman if he/they get involved or not and if its worth losing there badge over. I done it a couple of times when I worked but that was only on severe occasions when the numbers weren't fair (like 5 guys on 1 or 2 guys). ronttuk
I was a door man years ago before you need a SIA licence it was great fun no rules or regulations their word against ours lol
Benjy
I gave up doorwork last year. If there's a problem within the vacinity of the front door and you feel the safety of you or those around you is in danger you can get involved. The liquid envy i used to work at had a car park at the front, 30ft away from the front door, and many a time I had people locked up, kissing the pavement whilst waiting for the police to lock 'em up. I even had to lock some mouthy little scroat up on my way home one morning in a petrol station as the foreign security guard didn't have a clue and he was trying to punch the cashier as he wouldn't sell him alcohol. None of the DS's on my facebook were at all impressed with the programme. It's put the image of the security industry back by about 10 years. We all look like idiots cos of those shown on TV. Shane
As soon as it got to the bit with the fat mouthy lesbian, I couldnt take much more and went to bed. She was real class, gave me nightmares.
supra joe
Done the doors about 8 years now, I prefer a quiet night tbh and only interveine if someones in my face, if someone wants to kick off outside the club then unless the police ask for assistance, which they usually do because they are useless. Then I'd rather stand back and watch the nights entertainment. The problem these days is people think they can get away with a lot of stuff because the new SIA rules and regulations but they usualy learn the hard way lol. Neil-NA
Will this be online anywhere so i can watch it during work?
Havard
I don't go out around town if I can help it as it always leads to trouble. I don't envy door staff either. I am ashamed to admit that the last time I went around Wigan I got really "merry" and tried to pick a fight with a doorman as he wasn't big enough.. I gave him some really intimidating verbals and to his credit he just told my Dad and my mates to take me home. I was out of order. Quite glad that I didn't take a kicking from him or his mates as I wasn't really in any state to fight back. H.
The Raven
The new rules are a god send IMO. Old school doorman, (hired goons) where just powder kegs waiting to go off. Way to much macho showing off to do the job. Most of the ones i knew didnt consider it a good night at work without getting in some drunk kids face and getting a few digs in. Saying that most seem to be from east europe round my way now, and they are 100x better than the old lot.
Josh
The doormen at my local pub are a bunch of prats. The ones that used to be there were great and really friendly with everyone. Now, they've hired two Asian chaps (one at least 6'5" and skinny and the other about 5' and fat) and they're idiots. They tell everyone to either "take ya 'oody off or tuc' it in" and when I said "why can you have you hoody on?" he said "different rules mate, now **** off" which I didn't take kindly too. They walk around like they're proper tough guys and just hassle and annoy the locals (quite a few of which have moved to the pub up the road now), which obviously is no good for business. That one big bouncer on the programme last night (the one that had his own company before) seemed like a genuine chap and I loved when he called that guy in the joggers a "tit"
tony tt
I did it for two years when i was younger thats all and was told if its off the doorstep its not the clubs responsibility. On the programme they did seem like a bunch of muppets to be fair. In the programme they had a job for gay pride week in Brighton and they were short staffed. Next thing there askin randoms in the street if they will go to Brighton with them to do crowd control. It was a bit weird.

Scott
I did it a few years back but I really didn't like it for 2 reasons. 1 Not a night goes by where someone doesn't want to have a go, usually out their face, 3'0 and built like a whippets ankle. I took many a hit without every throwing one as it would have been like slapping a baby. I ended up carrying a lot of frustration and anger with me and that's just not me. 2 The people who worked in the same line where I did were extremely corrupt. I would get calls in the earpiece to go around the back as there was trouble, only to find a few of the guys roughing up someone who annoyed them. There's that and the fact that most of the drugs on the premises were actually being touted by the bouncers, I stopped the same guy 3 nights on the trot and frisked him only to find pills. On all 3 occasions I was told to leave it, had the drugs taken from me and 2 mins later saw the same lad entering a different door. There are people who take the job seriously but they are few and far between in my experience. Out of 15 guys I worked with, and 2 girls, I think there were 4 of us who were there to do the job properly.
Robzki
I've had exactly the same experience as Scott, couldn't have put it better myself I left the job when my pent up frustrations stopped me thinking straight and rising above it.
