Rob had this method of bolt-removal applied to his car by a Toyota dealer. Not long afterwards his crank pulley came apart.

Ian C
The method I used was: Removed radiator, shroud, aircon fans, battery & tray, fan + viscous bit, and drive belt. Put in 6th gear, handbrake on one click more than normal, friend in drivers seat with foot on the brake. I had a 22m impact driver socket attached to a sliding T-bar - these two bits cost me about £20 because they were up to the job in hand. I also had the use off the jack handle off a HiLift Jack from my Land Rover owning friend. This was the perfect lever, the right size and lenght and definitely strong enough. Thanks to all the flexure in the whole drivetrain I had to start with the lever on the passenger side of the engine bay, and only by the time I was near the drivers side wing was it actually solidly tensioning against the bolt. With some red-faced grunting at this point the bolt 'cracked' and came undone, less of a pain than I thought. Doing it up I strained so hard I hurt a tendon in my neck. So I think that was tight enough Gaz - the situation on guns is this - if you are a law abiding citizen, you can't have them. If you are a criminal, help yourself. If you express an interest in them you are a nutcase child-killer psycho loner type. If you are irrationally terrified of them (being inert lumps of metal), you are a shining example to everyone else and mentally sound. If you own them for self defense you'll immediately shoot everyone who approaches within 100m of you and makes eye contact. If you believe that only bad people who break the law should have guns you are sensible. How am I doing so far? -Ian
