tooquicktostop
You could always take the car to Dave (Supraloopy) and ask him to check the spark plugs, I am sure he will have the engine out by the afternoon
Lee P
If your considering doing this get your self a copy of the workshop manual, it will show you all you need to know and gives you all the torque settings.

Ian C
Start at the top, unplug and unbolt everything on the way down, hoik out engine Simply reverse to reinstall, although there is one extra step - sell the leftover bits on ebay

They would be fine but could be bought cheaper try; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-FOLDING-2-TONNE-HYDRAULIC-ENGINE-CRANE-HOIST-/170566141580?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item27b688c68c#ht_3319wt_1165 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEALEY-ES550-ENGINE-GEARBOX-STAND-1012-LB-550-KG-NEW-/400176240549?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d2c5cd7a5#ht_3624wt_1165 You can get cheaper stands than the one i have just put up but i find its more sturdier with the two legs. As for the crane i've got a similar design, i bought it five years ago, and in the past couple of years i have been taking at least one V8 Engine out of a Range Rover a week, so its more than up to the job! gavin.starr
Cheers craig. Its going to be next month now until im going to buy, so i will get plenty of research in before i do. The other question Im going to ask is, where is the best place to get a gasket kit from. Im hoping not to split the head from the block so i dont want a head gasket, Im basically after the intake gaskets, exhausts, sump gasket etc... Im going to give the engine a complete overhaul thats if my crank isnt buggered .
