pauld36
im sure this has been posted before because i cant believe im the only person who has unplugged the electrical wire to a seat belt. i cannot believe that there is no warning that it renders the seatbelt useless. to my question ,is there a way of resetting seatbelt,it looks like if clear plastic cover is removed that it might be able to be reset. any advice welcome ta
Scott
I can't make head nor tail of any of that unfortunately Paul. Could you explain what you are looking for a bit better?
SupraStar 3000
you what? I've removed the seats before and never seen a seat belt plug?
pauld36
the front seat belts have an electrical connection at base,i unplugged the wire because i stripped car for welding of tunnel.when i put seatbelts back and connected wire they will not allow you to pull belt out ,so i disconnected and took to toyota dealers to ask advice .they stated that as soon as wire has been unplugged it renders the seat belt unuseable for ever. Abz
EDIT - I understand now Though not sure if that is true or not, have you tried reconnecting it a couple of times?

pauld36
I read it 3 times and still don't get it Are you saying the sign on the dash isn't coming on? Or that the seat belt end isn't working? the seat belts are locked and wont pull out
Scott
Won't pull out of where? The seat belt buckle or the winding mechanism behind the panel? Where did you unplug it? was it at the winding mechanism or underneath the seat? I've removed the plug from the seat that connects to the seat belt buckle but I've never removed the pre-tensioner wire. It must be do-able though as plenty of people have sold seatbelts on here. pauld36
EDIT - I understand now Though not sure if that is true or not, have you tried reconnecting it a couple of times? yes but on closer inspection theres a little metal solenoid that looks like when disconnected it activates a safety lock and toyota say it cannot be reversed and throw seatbelt assembly in bin .has to be replaced with whole new seatbelt assembly
Scott
I take it you removed this wire while the battery was still connected then?
