When i mentioned a warrenty obviously youve got to get a decent one that will cover the bulk of the parts on your car, ive had them on cars before and just made sure i read the small print before i bought it to make sure the big drama's are covered

Can I ask who the warranty is with ? I might take up the same - Does yours include blown turbos ? as you may have guessed Im worried about the turbos getting mashed up after a year or so = you are right though £750 is money well spent in the long run

Haven't really seen anything that comes close to this kit for killer looks ! Do you have anything else in mind Terry ?

What about the FnF front bumper, i had one on my car looked v nice not too bad a fit and was approx £500.

Most front bumpers are not very tough though there nearly all fibreglass and a little nudge in the wrong place and they just disintergrate as i found out.

Never seen that one ! gotta pic? What happend to yours ? hope it was fixable !

When kitting up cars I have always tried to get Urathane kits as they are more impact resistant - so know what you mean when it comes to F.B. kits - The supra will only be used on longer trips or visiting friends - I will use the Mrs's Civic for the shopping trips ! (she doesnt know this yet :innocent: )

I'll see if i can dig out the details but it was a while ago and my memory sucks.

What about asking the dealer your buying it off if they do one thats worth having. You never know !!!!!

You could also enquire if the warranty is void if you fit an exhaust or other simple mods. I dont think you'll find many companies will give you cover if youve seriously modded it to death, bit like insurance really the bigger the mods the more the premium.

But if you dont ask you never know.

Sorry no pickies of mine but have a look at the suprastore.com site in the USA.

You cant miss it, its bright orange. Just look for the Fast & Furious car.

There aren't many urethene kits around for the mk4, think you can count them on one hand.

Mine was unrepairable and i only nudged a grass bank quite gently.

Welcome to the board far.

When i got mine i had a specialist do an engine check to test for compression and check for turbo leakage. I spoke to G-Force in Aylesburt recently and although i have not dyno'd the car yet they say that their checks will tell you about the turbos health. they charge £57+vat for this so thats good piece of mind. You might want to change the cam belt as a precaution which is about £137. There is a thread on the board somewhere about these being non-interference (i think thats right) engines, so if the belt goes the engine doesn't clash all the usual bits together, but the general thought was to play safe and change it.

I recently had a quote to get my veilside cone resprayed and was told £250. Makes me wonder if you were quoted £400, were these guys any good or not.

Thanks anyway dunk much appreciated, cheers Mark/ad/darren glad to be here!

Thought that was the case with the sva/mot thing darren - cheers 4 clearing that up.

It was J.I.C. who quoted £400 spray & fit my experience of JIC was kinda " expensive but good"

Hey thanks for all the tips Ad I will make sure I get this stuff done, good point with the cambelt - Iwas thinking about getting this done - how do they check for turbo leakage?

dont worry mark your supra looks the b0ll*x hope mine looks that good eventually too ! I have looked at tons of kits all afternoon today at work(yep no work got done  ) I dont think anything touches the veilside

yeah a supra meet would be cool.... redhill would be okay. 4 me.. just a short trip form central london but what to do aftre some beers and needing to get home!???

Good choice on the car.... much fun to be had!

Good price too. I paid 14 k for mine... 1995m, but only 24k ont he clock.. and it looked genuine, even though it was a jap import... very tidy engine bay... and it stopped straight + went straight, so I had to have it. Watch out for modding bug... there is too much available!

enjoy!

I'd be very careful when checking this car out. £8k is very cheap. More than likely awarded R (Accident repaired) grade at the jap auctions for that to be profitable for the dealer selling it. Make sure you see the original Jap auction sheet, complete with Jap squiggles etc - the condition grade is clearly marked in the top right hand side of the sheet and will have a letter under it telling you the interior condition grade.

I personally wouldn't import a Supra that didn't have a Grade 4 rating or above, and for the cheapest of these would be £10k OTR in the UK for a '93 Auto. All IMO.

Thunder -> thanks for the info,I wanted to know if it had been accident repaired there would be an indicator on the auction form I will look into it,I think your right 8k does sound toooo good but am hoping this is just a good bargain, this guy has a good reputation and others from my work have bought from him - apparently the mark up on his cars isn't too high and he makes his profits on bulk sales....we will see.So on the form if it was an "R" vehicle would it not have a grade 1-5 ? or is it in addition to the grade 1-5.If the guy says he doesnt have the form when I get there should I just not touch it ? or judge it on its individual merrit

Terawua -> well your car sounds mint - I would rather pay a bit more than end up with a duff ,with regard to beer & getting home - well not sure on that one - just drink under the limit?

Ashley just checked out the Gatherings/Events section looks good - nbeed to get a car first though !! dont wanna arrive in my prelude and stand out like a sore thumb ;-)

Cheers for the warm welcome guys - im going to check out autotrader.com 2check out some more soops

yep - Im getting more and more worried the car which I am seeing is gonna be a duff - Looking at the autotrader site there are some nice lookin uk spex @11 - 12.5k so might just dip in to the savings account and go for something which will proove more reliable in the long run - not sure at all about this 8k supra anymore after doing some price comparisons

NO no you didnt mislead me - any feedback is always welcome - the 8k car im talking about is not the one which is on the trader but the one which I was talking about earlier which has just been imported - will just have to make sure that I look into it thoughouly before I buy it I guess

Far, here is my translation of the grading system that the majority of Jap Auctions use:

5 : Immaculate Condition with mileage below 60,000km

4.5: Excellent Condition

4 : Good condition

3.5: Some repair work needed or slightly higher mileage than average

3 : Lots of repair work needed or high mileage

2 : Piss poor condition

1 : Modified, Debased or Affected Car (Submergence, damaged from salt, hailstorm etc.)

R : Accident damaged and repaired car

RA :.Higher graded Accident damaged and repaired car

R1 : Complex grading (mixture) of the above "R" and "1"

RA1 : Complex grading (mixture) of the above "RA" and "1"

*** : Accident damaged and not repaired car, cars for parts recycle use, non-driveable car

^^ Bare in mind that their 4 graded car could be considered as 'A1' in this country. Hence why I say 4 or above but grade 4.5 and 5 cars are very rare and command a price premium.

If this 8k car checks out OK and the auction sheet isn't dodgy, you've checked the car out to see that it's structuraly sound and are happy with it after a test drive then snap it up quick cos it's VERY cheap. I personally can't see how there's any profit in it, hence why I say it seems fishy. Also remember there is converting an import and then converting an import properly. The latter being more expensive and generally not done by most importers.

cheers thunder - you seem to be the man in the know looking at old & new threads, well the info you have posted is most usefull and gives me more to go by,btw - you say theres "converting an import and then converting an import properly" whats the diff ?

I am presuming as a bare minimum they will convert the speedo to mph, lights, fog light, odo - what else?

cheers mate
