Digital
Can someone help me with the below? The powersteering-pump(2JZGE) started whining this weekend. When idling you can hear it, and it gets worse with steering. I took the reservoir-cap off when idling and it was full but I saw some foam. How does this foam occur? RIP PS-pump, or is there a way to try and bleed the system? If yes, what's the best way? Lude
foam occurs when there is air in the system. you more than likely have a split hose somewhere, which is letting air in, and possibly fluid out. on my TT, the pipe from the resivour to the cooler was split, as was the pipe from the resivour to the pump. you need to check the hoses for splitts/cracks, then replace. then you need to top up with fluid and bleed the system. bleeding is easy, you just make sure resivour has plenty of fluid in, then turn the wheels full lock a few times each side, with the cap off. and keep topping up the resivour. find which hoses are split, or if the pump itself is leaking first. get this sorted soon, or you can damage the pump. Digsy
get this sorted soon, or you can damage the pump. Also check for wetness around the bellows at the end of the rack, because if the end seals in the rack intself have gone fluid will seep from there. Another place to check are the threaded unions on the valve body where the pipework joins to the rack. One of these (the return connection) is a short hard pipe with a plastic sleeve over it. Mine developed a tiny pinhole leak under the sleeve.
Lude
It explains HERE how to bleed the PAS system. 56 pages lol yea i forgot to mention that the 2 front wheels should be off the ground when you are bleeding, to releive stress off the pump. but its pritty easy to do
