Guest KingAntz
why do all the cars have this ugly step in the nose. they look like me. its terrible Looks like Mclaren is the only car so far that doesnt have that nose curve
Guigsy
It's a safety regulation to reduce injury in a t-bone accident apparently. Though I'm not sure how. And apparently it was due to be in force last year so mclaren designed the car to comply then it was dropped. So ether mclaren have a 1 year jump in dev time... Or they have made a cockup and they have a worse design. Personly I think the former, if you look at last years car you will see the nose is lower than the rest. Other than the front wing the front of the car hasn't changed a whole lot.
tbourner
It's a safety regulation to reduce injury in a t-bone accident apparently. Though I'm not sure how. Really? Is the rule that the chassis up to a certain defined point (front wheel centre line I guess) has to be a certain height? So after that point they all just put a huge step in to get it down to the point they want for aero and front wing attachment. No idea how the McLaren will fare, hopefully they know what they're doing. They did say there would be a major design in the car that everyone would eventually want to copy, and it'll be obvious from the first testing - they must know something we don't. Mr Ree
Oh great I have found the F1 thread here Another day with Mercedes gathering tyre data with the old chassis, and topping the time sheets again too. Very valuable data to collect before bring the new chassis online in Barcelona. The new Ferrari is proving a little harder to get on top of the set up than they were hoping, tick tick tick tick... Lbm
So Mr Ree are you at Jerez now working for Merc or are you just commenting on today's events as reported?
Mr Ree
I wish Even to be their garage sweeper would be a dream job lol Im just an F1 addict, and glad that I found a thread on this forum about my other love. What does your crystal ball tell you about the upcoming season?
Lbm
Well hopefully Caseys on here will be able to run the Fanatasy F1 2012 league which I fully intend to win As for the racing, I think it's going to be good. I'm hoping the usual suspects will be able to properly challenge the Red Bulls. Got exciting with Kimi & Michael posting some good times, but as you know the cars now will be quite different come race day. I'm keen to see Di Resta improve as I thought he had a very good rookie season. I'd even like Mark W to win a few, but all in all I'll be hoping for Jenson & Lewis to be going at it. What about yourself being from NZ. Who do you fancy this year? (if you pardon the expression)
Mr Ree
Please tell me more about the fantasy league? The racing will be stunning, especially with Pirelli's second year on the job with more aggressive compound/gaps, and every teams mastering of the DRS and KERS. Ive been a Michael fan for as long as I can remember, so would want nothing more than to see him get back on the top step this year, hell even regular podiums would be enough to convince him to extend for another couple of years, after the car he has had since returning. But if the car is still in 4th place, and a second per lap behind, then I think he will retire, sadly. Same goes for Kimi, if the results arent here, his interest wont be kept too long, but I would love to see him back at the pointy end too. F1 needs someone with his own personallity, but I expect the media wont get too much from him second time around Di Resta did spectacularly on his rookie year, (Im a Scot by blood too btw) and I expect him to give Hulkenberg a very tough season. Webber is all class, lets hope he gets on top of the tyres from the first race as if he gets a few wins in against Vettel, the wunderkid will likely show the strain in his driving, as he did in 09 and 10, making more than a few avoidable errors, much like Hamilton last year. As Martin Brundle says so well...You are either giving pressure, or you are recieving it, there is no middle ground. My dream result would be Schu taking his 8th championship, but being the ultimate realist that I am, I would have to say I hope Webber, or Button take it. Would love to see Massa have a good year, but Ferrari have broken his spirit and he knows that no matter how good he drives, the team only have eyes for the sulking cheating spaniard How long have you been a fan of F1? I have about 30 years worth on file, and am looking to find any footage/seasons I dont already have. My dream is to have the entire 62 seasons
