CJ
I have a gmail account and, in the main, it works very well. However there is something that bugs me and I am not sure how to rectify it? I get mail into my inbox and also see spam mail in the spam box. However, when I look in "all mail" there are loads of emails there that are definitely not spam as they didn't appear in the spam box at all. I then move them to my inbox hoping that gmail would remember they are OK but that doesn't work. Any ideas as to what to alter?
CJ
I've checked all the other folders and boxes and cannot see them anywhere.
Thorin
"All mail" is everything you've ever received, even old stuff you've deleted. It should have shown up in one of your other folders first, all mail is just an archive of old mail really.
Scott
How are you accessing google mail? If using a client, such as windows mail, you can hide it. Virginmedia are now using googlemail so I know exactly where you are coming from. It confused the hell out of me at first. I mistakenly deleted "all mail" at one point as I didn't know what it was, only to watch ALL of my emails disappear (oops).

I realised that but this is showing new mail that should appear in my inbox but doesn't and I cannot find it in any other of the mail folders. I did the delete thing too - oops part deux
Scott
Do you fancy using windows live mail instead? It's ok and fairly minimalistic so decent enough. I can take you through setting that up so that you don't get the allmail stuff. I'm unsure about the new emails not showing in your inbox though. All mail shows your inbox, sent box, deleted items and junkmail as far as I know. It might also show another type of junk mail called trash, but I might be making that up. Anyway, the all mail will only show these items as I understand it so they must be in one of the above areas of your mailbox.
Attero
Check your filters and see if anything is sending your mail straight to the archive.

Thats exactly what I thought too - but despite me checking all the folders I cannot for the life of me find where it is at
Scott
Thats exactly what I thought too - but despite me checking all the folders I cannot for the life of me find where it is at You will have about 3 sentboxes and multiple trash/deleted folders. Have you maximised and checked each one down the list? Opening up all of the little + thingys?
