Dangerous driving?

I do realise he is "testing" the car and it is 2am but still it seems this is on public road in what is still a normal car yet to be converted for police use. Should he be charged for dangerous driving like the rest of us if this happens?

It was never going to be converted. It belonged to VW's press office, and yes, he absolutely should have the book thrown at him. He made a right mess of that car and was obviously pushing it way too hard.

From that picture it looked like it might have rolled too. I understand testing but shouldn't they reserve the higher speed stuff on private tracks? At first I didn't care much but after seeing that picture I am a bit shocked. I know if a civvy does this he will be jailed with a crim record!

I've seen marked traffic cars exeeding the limit all the time around my way without lights on. I think they should like everyone else if there not going to an emergency. They tailgate quite a lot going up the A77 and practicaly force people to move over its shocking. They should throw the book at that guy!

TO be fair marked (or in some cases unmarked) traffic cars are specially prepped for high speed driving (not that I condone it tho!) so that is a different matter. In the news above it seems that its just a normal Golf R straight from the dealership. I wasn't aware of this kind of arrangement between police and dealerships before.

It wasn't from a dealership. It was a PR car.

I can see th need for putting potential cars through their paces, but why on a public road? The Police here book the runway at Elvington or such things. I can also appreciate that they must practice on public roads, though I'm sure they could close certain roads off for this at quiet times.

Or Bruntingthorpe PROVING Ground? Surely that's THE place.

Isn't this special prep thing a bit of a myth?

As far as I know Police spec consists of a big engine and basic trim. Engines, brakes and suspension no different to any model with the same engine.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I think one of the main requirements are stringent servicing and everything is replaced even at slightest wear. Traffic cars also contain gizmos and radios to help them navigate better.

What a tool if he thought he was gettin away from a bike! Lovely car though its a shame it would have got towed.

Theres a few supras and I know of a few skylines that will get away from bikes............................you cant fall off a car !!!!

I think the police should be treated the same as everyone else and have the book thrown at them. To be honest all this talk about the police being highly trained drivers is the biggest joke i have ever heard.

Its also a myth about there cars being tuned there just standard as from the factory. The only things they do is add all there equipment like radio's and camera's
