erol_h
I just wanted to know how many of you are going to be paying for sky sports to view the f1 this year. I currently have the virgin xl package with internet, phone all the tv channels apart from sports and movies and im paying £50.99 a month. I rang up virgin to find out what i would need to pay to upgrade bloody gave me a heart attack £22.50 a month extra taking the piss.
Josh
Whoa! Well not worth it! My Sky costs me £10 a month (multi room) and it has every single channel. No idea how much the proper bill is though..

No idea how much the proper bill is though.. My Sky, with all channels inc 3D, one multiroom and broadband comes to just under £100 a month. Seems expensive, until you realise that a trip to the cinema with the girlfriend would cost circa £20 a time. Might ditch sports and multiroom soon though, but that would mean loosing 3D which is fantastic
Guigsy
To watch a few hours of f1 coverage every month that won't be as good as the bbc's coverage. I won't be paying any more. One chap at work who already has sky sports and loves his f1 has said he won't watch the sky coverage on principle lol At the end of the day they won't get near the viewing figures the BBC did
johnny g
I'm already on the Sky HD+ with all sports, movies and multiroom - so I get it thrown in. But I'm giving them nearly £70/month for the pleasure. If I never got it for free, I'd have gone mad.

Cineworld do an offer where they give you Unlimited cinema access for just £14.99 a month. Got it for both me & the wife, gives us an excuse to make sure we go out more often. neo2810
At the end of the day they won't get near the viewing figures the BBC did Don't be so naive, of course they will, and they know it. Whenever this happens, there's cries of boycott all over, but the viewing figures always tell another story. I love F1, and I pay for Sky HD, so I'll watch it on that. It's not Sky that's cashing in, it's Bernie. BBC couldn't afford to keep paying the astranomical yearly fees Bernie and his cronies pile on. Robzki
Tbh I definitely won't pay anymore to watch F1. I'm not sure if I need to get sports to watch it. I am sure that this will lose a lot of viewers. Up to a couple of years ago I used to go to silverstone to watch it used to cost £500 for the weekend but have lost interest lately. If I have to pay more to watch it, it will be the straw that breaks the camels back unfortunately.
_Shane_
Have it free perks of working for Sky
neil tt
I've been watching for the past 15 years, can't see the point of sky at all, will just have to either go next door (who has sky) or go to the pub. Or just just watch whats on the BBC
mwilkinson
I have sky but I won't be buying either HD or the sports package to view the F1. I will just watch the races that the BBC cover. Total rip off. Shame on them, especially when the BBC had such a great setup.
AJI
I won't be paying to view F1 on Sky. We had the HD package last year for free and now they want something like £12/month.....they can go and take a jump off the nearest cliff! HD channels even on a 50" screen were not that much different to normal SD channels, so its not worth it. So I'll be watching whats on BBC. But then I think I will lose rapid interest in F1 as soon as Bernie laps up the 'green' sponsorship deals, you know, the ones that bring in the future rule proposals to turn F1 cars in to electric motors in the pit lane and also the introduction of turbos for emission purposes. He'll be wanting to run them on diesel next!
Gaz6002
TBH the Sky coverage looks loads better than BBC's was. If I wasn't considering selling my TV I'd probably pay for it.
Lbm
We have Sky but no Sports package. BBC ftw

The BBC could afford it, but they chose not to - instead putting money on daft Digital-only channels, and programs for BBC3/4, which might net a combined 300,000 viewers. BBC F1 used to net 6m viewers. They've massivley cocked up.
Swampy442
You don't have to pay for it, BBC will still have all the races, just some of them will be highlights

I dont care as my mother has HD so i shall just be at her place and get a nice dinner to boot Just to add, the Texas GP is no longer going ahead due to BC wanting too much money
Dnk
Well, still, we have to pay for BBC. You have to pay for a License no matter what your watching so that doesn't really come into it.
AJI
You have to pay for a License no matter what your watching so that doesn't really come into it. Well, it does, you have to pay for your license in order to watch it on BBC. But I know what you mean. In order to watch any live TV you need a draconian government license, something which a modern country should have done away with long ago IMO. But this subject is another thread

I meant the cost of one season of F1 was the accumulative cost of Wimbledon, the Golf tourney they cover and all the season's football. They made a financial decision to drop F1 in order to fund other schemes. I agree they may regret it.
tbourner
I think if you have Sky Sports and HD you get F1 HD for free (for the first year)? Not sure what it means for people on Virgin who subscribe to Sky Sports HD? I don't myself, just wondered. I'll just be watching the BBC coverage, races and highlights. I'm fine with that TBH.
