Green Peace
My very First Mobile phone Motorola 8000s was on the Analogue Vodafone network in 1988 it was better than Cellnet because whenever some one rang Cellnet the line would go 'dead' for thrirty seconds before it would connect leaving callers to think the call hadn't worked or the number was invalid... So I bought one on the Voda network and it would give me a combined 3-4 hours of use per day between charges or second battery..and it made a useful doorstop when i eventually got a new phone. Last Year I bought a V800 Sony Ericsson on the Vodafone 3g network and its appalingly bad. Voicemail is down at the mo and has been for several days this has happened time and time again with no notification of this from the Network provider. When I am in Somerset I get 'Emergency calls only in most places and it will only work up here in Middlesex in the kitchen (standing on a chair) They yesturday offered to replace my phone with a so called 'Re-conditioned handset'..to which I declined as I originally bought my phone brand new and dont want to catch any germs from some secondhand user... I have asked them to terminate the contract and they are saying i will have to pay a charge...What should I do? and has anyone else had similiar problems with Vodafone 3g or 2g ? irfan_habib
Is it on pay monthly? If so, what date did you start the contract?
how_supra
I truly hate vodafone. Did you know it's 40% more expensive than any other network? That said 3g coverage is still not at its best and I think you would struggle on any network coverage map
Digsy
I wanted to jump from Voda to O2 this year when I got my PDA/phone, but O2 couldn't match the deal on that particular handset, so I stayed. Vode coverage is marginally better in my area anyway. But I am having increasing amounts of problems with their Customer Service people, and they do seem to be getting more and more expensive - especially if you use your phone abroad. SupraTT2004
I have tried all networks and find vodafone one of the best. and the cheapest. never had a problem with them either, unlike O2.
Green Peace
Is it on pay monthly? If so, what date did you start the contract? Pay Monthly....started in November/December time... Digsy Best way of using a mobile abroad for say more than a week is to buy a Pay As You Go sim when you get there and leave the forign number on your UK voicemail I do this and it saves me loads of dosh..and dont have to pay for people phoning or texting me..plus calls within the country are cheaper.. SupraTT2004 What make of phone do you have? is it 2g or 3g..also what tarrif are you on? Cheers Si
how_supra
I have tried all networks and find vodafone one of the best. and the cheapest. never had a problem with them either, unlike O2. You see I'm the opposite. I've been with most networks (not T-mobile though), and vodafone were by far the worse and the most expensive and had the worst coverage. At uni, in Northampton, the only place I could get a signal was if I laid on the floor of my halls facing the window. Northampton isn't exactly the middle of nowhere. It was stupid. I also find their customer service rubbish, and they almost have this arrogance about them. Also at work we are vodafone corporate and they repeatedly demonstrate their total incompetence to me on a daily basis. I think it is a personal choice and depends on previous experience. Si I do think your problem with just to do with basic 3g coverage at the minute.

penguin
lol, but i've actually realised how crap o2 are.... i mean, sometimes (ok, when i can be arsed) to ring my girlfriend, i get the message "the number you have dialled has not been recognised".... bla bla bla... try a few second later and it work ... same with txt messages i've got the 3000 min offpeak contract for £20 a month.... with t-mobile
neo1
I have never had a problem with Vodafone, get a brand new top of the range handset offered to me every year for free... this time a p910i usually give me 6 months half price line rental and other free-bees like free voicemail. Now they have re-designed there bills its also far clearer to know where your money has been spent. I think they were total rubbish a year ago, but they seem to be making a real effort now to provide market leading service you would expect. And no i dont work for Vodafone
tonyhawk
I have been with Vodafone since 1994 (then analogue) and customer service or price aside, the signal seems to have degraded rather than improved.. :o( Perhaps it's something to do with them not keeping up with demand, or too many subscribers per base station, but what ever the reason I'm looking to move. I live in London, which is supposed to have 99.something % coverage, but it's noting like that; I am forever finding holes in the reception, and forget about heading south! I visit Bromley every weekend and reception is simply diabolical; fishermans nets have fewer holes; driving from one side of Bromley to the other causes my phone to drop the call no less than 3 times, and sometimes more. In case you're thinking "change your phone", this has always been the case (although worse lately), and I change my phone every 6-12 months (often different vendors). The price deal I have is competative, and the calls I've made to customer services have been ok, but the lack of reception is driving me mad. Kopite
i used to be with Vodafone until they sponsored Man United, switched to 02 then - 02 were useless though! had an online tariff with them, rang up and gave my months notice as i was gonna switch to Orange because i hadn't been happy with 02's customer service. Switched over, then noticed that for a couple of months that i was still bein charged by 02. of course because it's all online, i had no proof of tryin to cancel! Never had any problems with Orange though, good customer service so far too

how_supra
Odd.. I've been with O2 for a few years now, no probs what so ever.. Appart from there coverage in afghanisan Me too. Not sure about afghanisan, but I got coverage on a cruise boat in the middle of the indian ocean with 02. I'm on an online tarriff, pay £28 a month, get 500 txt / mms text messages a month, and 100 off peak any network minutes. I honestly think it is personal preference. terribleturner
I used to be with Vodaphone untill recently. They were expensive but i had reception about 95% of the time. I'm now with Orange and although alot cheaper and customer service better, my reception is only working about 45% of the time. And surposidly Orange has the 2nd biggest network coverage in the country.
Green Peace
Before I was on Vodafone..I was on Orange...I have been with all networks at some point in the last few years I have been on Orange O2 '3' and Voda..out of those Four I suppose Orange was the best of a bad bunch. I havent yet tried T Mobile but Im told by everyone who has T-Mobile that it is by far the best in terms of Cost, Customer Service and reliability...I have only been on T mobile when it was One2One and well he he lets not go there..I'm sure they are better today. I really feel that i should have a legal right to end my contract if the services i am getting are as bad as they are...I once got out of a '3' mobile contract by contacting Oftel and I had every penny refunded also...and I didn't have to write to anyone it was all done over the phone...voicemail still dosn't work. Yeah Na James tis not the GX30...its the 902..Its the only one they do that you cant get free with a contract..thats why i chose it and coz of the 2 mp camera sneaky arnt I he he? Cheers How-supe...it was worth the hassle....and if this problem persists I just end contract and will still be able to get a good handset with another vendor but worth trying a new handset just for the hell of it I spose.
