attilauk
i have just seen on the BBC website that castle combe have lost their appeal against the noise order, even though they dropped the noise regs AGAIN for racing vehicles! i cant believe that the council came to this decision after only 5 complaints from people who have recently moved into the area! its a f***ing racetrack what did you expect it to be like http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wiltshire/4388217.stm
Class One
That;s a real bummer.Do you reckon that could mean the end for Japfest at Castle Combe?
Alex
Typical of this country... "I moved into my house at the end of a runway....but the planes are too noisey so I want them banned" "I moved into a house next to a firing range and I'd like the guns fitted with silencers..." lust2luv
The world's gone mad! If only we could find out the addresses of those who complained, we could have an exhaust sound-off outside their house...
Bobbeh
See, you cant even race your car OFF the pulbic roads now.. stupid country.

attilauk
That;s a real bummer.Do you reckon that could mean the end for Japfest at Castle Combe? no Japfest and the other shows will be ok, the complaint was about the F3 racing on a sunday last year. the noise nuisence order means that they cannot hold F3, British GT or superbike events there and it also means they will not be able to hold a round of the BTCC there like they were hoping it will cripple the circuit to lose these events :thumbdown
Alex
it will cripple the circuit to lose these events :thumbdown It will also cripple the local area, when they suddenly lose a load of indirect income from not getting in tourists (race facns) to the local area... How many days in a year do they race on? How very intollerant...
attilauk
the F3 and British GT race on the same weekend and they are only there for one weekend a year! the superbike festival is also only one weekend a year! 2 days that bring in nearly 100,000 race fans (and their money)
Scoboblio
Typical.... we used to get this in my villiage when local residents complained about kids playing football too loudly in the summer.... in the adjacent playing field FFS! Even the motoring nation's racetracks are being deemed "anti-social" now... I would ask where this is going to end, but sadly I think we already know
attilauk
I would ask where this is going to end, but sadly I think we already know does it involve a freak fuel tanker accident in Yatton Keynell?
sideshowbob
How is England ever gonna have any sort of motor racing champions if they have nowhere to practice? All forms of motorsport will just be a luxury that you watch on tv before long, being held overseas, where they take it seriously! It's people like this who really piss me off, they knew there was a track there before they moved there, if they don't like it, don't move there...simple really. Used to race motocross a while back, had a good track Nr Oxford, one of the locals spotted a rare butterfly on the land....... yep you've guessed it...the club lost the use of the track! Ian R
Disgrace I know how they feel at Tesco there is a man on the parish council who has complianed about noise from lorries. He bought his house after the store was built Tesco has paid for triple blazing in his house and even repositioned the loading bay on the refit. He has recently tried to sue Tesco for his duaghter having asthma blaming it on the 15 or so lorries that go to the store each day not the 100's of cars that travel down the busy road. He lost that but did manage to restrict the company to recieve deliveries between 7am to 10pm

Guest Sakura
It's the same when townies move to the country and complain about cows mooing, cockerels crowing, church bells ringing etc. Makes me sick!

salvatore
Crazy, crazy fools ...I lived in Castle Coombe as a nipper until i was 12, and not ONCE can i remember EVER hearing loud car exhausts. Then again, that was back in the mid/late 70's, when the village consisted of 'local' people (i know..League of Gentlemen ), and not like it is now where no-one actually 'lives' there (i.e uses local services, schools etc...) It's all posh nobs down from the Smoke to the weekend retreat with Giles and his public school chums. Basically Nimby's (ya'll know what i mean?) Piss's me off when the people that probably complain are too old, doddery and eaf to enjoy life and the thrills of motorsport anyway. So where in the UK now is it still allowed to race a car, or had UberLord Tony got a plan to have us all driving batterie powered fart wagons by the time of the next election. World gone mad. I'm gonna buy a tent and live on the 'Ring. (Rant over)
