neo2810
I've just checked diag and found this code. Could that be the cause of the cold starting issue? Basically in warmer weather in the morning the car has been starting after a few turnovers (one key turn but 4 or 5 turnovers), but on the very cold mornings it takes several key turns before it fires up. Once it's started in the morning, it fires up first time every time perfectly for the rest of the day (including after sitting outside work for 7 hours). So I've been thinking it's the coolant sensor but that error code would have been 22, and this was definately 12. Thoughts?

Swampy442
Reset the ECU and see what you get again. Im no expert but, I thought if the crank sensor was biffed it wouldnt start at all? if the ECU has picked that code up there must have been a condition met to store the code. nige-rz
Im no expert but, I thought if the crank sensor was biffed it wouldnt start at all?. This went on my BMW, it started and ran, but was way down on power and had a dodgy idle.
neo2810
Hmmm... I'll try resetting the ECU and see if it returns.
neo2810
Arrgghhh... Leaving work today car struggled to start, then idled sounding odd with engine management light on. I pulled off, car backfired and sounded off so I pulled over. I left it idling for 30 secs and something clicked in place, engine light went off and car drove home perfectly. Perplexed! neo2810
Ok, I nipped out tonight again after about 45 mins and same thing happened. So it seems when engine has cooled, it struggles to start, then idles badly with engine management light on for about 30 sec to 1 min, after which the idle normalises and the light goes off, then the car runs perfectly. I'm going to get the sparks changed as a precaution (could sparks cause that?) and probably also look to change the crank position sensor and coolant temp sensor in the hope this is related to those. Anyone know the cost of these: - Crank Position Sensor - Coolant temp sensor - Denso plug leads (another thing to rule out)
