I Know this isn't everyones idea of a project but I've just obtained this barn find. Its a straight 6 so should be fun and has a lot of potential :)

I've always fancied some kind of time trials/hill climb car but can't afford a 'decent' track day car. This one fits the bill, unfortunately it fits the purpose better than it fits me ;) I can get in it without the seats fitted though.

Needs a lot of work, but is complete and has very little major rust for 40+yrs old

I haven't tried to get it running yet but am looking forward to hearing it fire up :)

Thanks for the comments, they weren't what I was expecting, I almost had second thoughts about posting as I was only expecting negative jibes :)

It was one of those 'bargains' that I can't refuse. £350 with a fair few spares. Came with the later overdrive, stainless exhaust. It looks like it has been 'restored' 10-15yrs ago with some new panels, door skins, sills etc and a poor paintjob.

I am a little unsure of what to do with it. I started by thinking that a full body off, chassis/suspension rebuild etc to original condition, tub rebuild with new replacement floorpans etc etc Then I started thinking that a v short timescale rat project would be better for my time and finances. after several weeks of considering I think something in between would be good. Its never going to be financially viable to attempt anything nearing concours, but seems a shame to rat it as its obviously had some money spent on it and it is 40years old so the middle ground is where we are :)

I'll get it mechanically put back together and tested to make sure the engine/box is worth keeping then more than likely strip it out and remove the engine box for a basic rebuild/refresh. Remove the tub and then new brakes, suspension and a chassis paint. Paint the tub inside and bulkhead then put it back together.

I can then decide if I want to 'modify the body and fit a cage before refitting the interior, bonnet and trim.

I'm really hoping I can keep the engine as to me its part of the charm of the car and I'm pretty excited about hearing it run. I don't think you could get a more basic, easier to work on car. 2.0l straight six, rwd with dubious handling in a car the size of a matchbox ;)

Thanks again, I'll update with pics and progress but it may be a long one as its a busy time of year for me.
