Scott
Looks like BT are following suite, I am currently on 37MB at the moment and the increase I think it is due in the summer period. 37mb is really good if you're actually getting those levels. You must be one of the few
snake
The Tivo box is good,it's the TV content that's repeated again and again and again, until they change the channel title and repeat it again.
Sheefa
Glad I made the switch over to Virgin from Sky in some ways, but have recently had connection issues and dropping speeds. Think this is due to the Dell XPS Wireless/Bluetooth card though (many posts state this). Overall when Virgin is performing well the speeds are blinding. I currently have the 50mb package so is the upgrade to 100mb free of charge?
Sheefa
Just ran a test - I'm on 50mb with Virgin.
jonathanc
No doubt fibre optic BB rocks! I used to be with Telewest and although that was cable I got constant 20mb thoroughput with no traffic shapping whatsoever Those were the days... Virgin is very strict on capping your bandwidth though or so I've heard.

Try a couple of different servers, I have to check different ones and I get different results each time. No doubt fibre optic BB rocks! Virgin is very strict on capping your bandwidth though or so I've heard. The only time they cap your bandwidth is when you have downloaded a lot. They see 5gb over 2 hours excessive so if you download that amount, you get capped. When I was 10mb I got capped to 1mb, I don't think I've been capped on my 30mb line yet though. The faster your BB package the higher the cap limit is. With 100mb it's unlimited and completely un touched. 50mb used to have that too, not sure if it still does. I do try a few speed tests. They all often come in at the same give or take 5mb. I think mine is capped every now and then as I sometimes download mass amounts in a very short space of time and then I find the speed drops off considerably. I tend to browse on my laptop and just leave my PC to do it's thing so I generally don't notice if my speed drops. It certainly doesn't effect any browsing, gaming or anything like that elsewhere though

sideexitsupra
The interface on the TiVo box is nowhere near as good as Sky+. We have had Virgin for about 3 months and the wife still hasn't got her head round it. Also the BBC red button stuff is not there. We will be keeping the broadband but switching back to Sky for TV when the contract is up.
Scott
Just checked a few different random ones.

I can quite happily switch between Sky & virgin no bother, I do so quite regularly as different family members have different setups. Never been lost or confused once. Also the red button stuff is there for me?
jonathanc
I wish I can get fibre where I am Shame new built houses don't come with that as standard!
Lbm
I'm on the very basic package with regards to the TV so I don't have the Tivo box. Tivo is meant to be fantastic though, it's massive in America. A really good thing about cable is you can actually record 2 different shows while watching a third live. I might be wrong about this but I think you can also record 3 shows at the one time while watching a 4th that was previously recorded lol. It's all a bit much IMO but I guess it's nice to have regardless. The interface that I have is fine to use, I mainly use the favourites option... where I have all my favourite channels catagorised in the one menu, works a treat. Other than that the channels are all grouped like you would expect. Browse to a channel and you will see the EPG for it, scroll along and press RED to set the show to record.... that's about it really lol. As for the movies, I would rather save the £30, pay £6 to netflix and £5 to love film and have what I want to watch on demand rather than the repeats they show over and over again on the sky channels. Thanks for that Scott. I've just read your Netflix thread too, look interesting
