SupraDan24
They're shut down Wikipedia for 24 hrs to raise awareness of the US and its ongoing mission to control information and the way its distributed. I can't decide whether its a blessing or a curse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Purity14
If you feel like its a curse, just google search the article you want eg: type this into google: site:http://en.wikipedia.org "toyota supra" Then just view the cached page. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:mZkw9hfdpFoJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Supra

Abz
Rupert Murdoch was moaning about this... quite ironic really. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16574977
Guigsy
YouTube will probably have to close. Or the "anyone can upload" aspect will be removed leaving only bids from corporate organisations nobody wants to view. Or when you upload you have to prove there are no copyright infringements. Anything with music on it will be removes unless you have permission from the creator...
Ark
Surely all those companies will just move offshore and the US'll wind up crippled for technical talent. Some ridiculous US-centric legislation couldn't really affect the Internet for the rest of the world.

Ark
I expect Wikipedia is just blocking US IP addresses for the day (works here too) - no point in alienating the rest of the world!
Guigsy
Where the USA goes the uk will surely follow... If YouTube for example don't move to a different country they will be bound by the law and it will cripple them. If they do move then the site will be blocked by the law for everyone in the USA (if they can inforce it properly) so that's most of YouTubes viewer base and add revenue gone. So will also cripple them. Smaller web companies simply can't afford to move.
Attero
Wikipedia is still open for mobile use. That's intentional. I agree with what's happening. The internet could be blown to smitherines if this bill becomes so.

The internet could be blown to smitherines if this bill becomes so. Not really - all the sanctions and money-stopping mechanisms in the bill will simply promote non-American facilities to spring up, non-American web hosting, etc. The Internet will just self-heal, without America. They'll effectively cut themselves off. Anyway, the politicians pushing this are already changing allegiences based on personal re-election concerns, given the public resistance to this.
