- Blu-Ray reader/player

This comes complete with Win7 Ultimate running 64bit. No monitor or keyboard / mouse.

He has paid 200.00. Is this a good deal?

Has he actually recieved it? If so, get him to click the experience index and post up a print screen of what it shows. The SSD is a MASSIVE selling point, those things are £100 a pop minimum. It'll boot up Windows 7 in about 20 seconds.

Not getting it until Saturday. It is off a member of IMOC and just happens to be a 20 mile drive from where we are picking the new mr2 up.

I've just looked at my PC score and it is 5.1 :(

Don't read into that too much, your score is always based on the lowest hit. In most cases it's the GFX card but after that it's generally the HDD.

My Laptop hits 5.2 but that's because it uses the onboard GFX to do the rating. Details are....

Processor - 7.5

Memory - 7.5

Graphics - 5.2

Gaming Graphics - 6.6

Primary Hard Disk - 5.9

if it wasn't a laptop and had a proper GFX card in I would have 7s across the board other than the HDD. The HDD will ALWAYS hold me back. Changing to an SSD would shoot that up to a 7 also.

As I said, it's not to be taken too seriously but it is a good indicator :)

Whilst its a first gen i5 CPU and a failed graphics card (still good but was considered a fail with its price in mind), £200 is an absolute steel. New, a year and a half ago it would have cost £750+ pre built. Some system integrators still sell the old tech too so the tech isn't exacatly old toot.

PS - look like GEIL RAM

that is a bargain! very good CPU cooler.

SSD is excellent.

Not so good:

Seagate Barracuda

Graphics card

I would recommend overclocking the cpu due to the cooler you have it shouldn't be a problem.

On the spec listed (and bearing in mind it wont be used for gaming) what psu would you recommend?

Corsair are about the best you can get, as you won't be loading it heavily I would just get a spec that would get you by. The lower end of the scale corsair would be fine, but they are still quite pricey.

Given the spec of the PC and the value of it all given what you paid I would definitely think about spending the extra lolly to protect it all.

If you did you would have a PC suitable for many years of doing what you do Col :)

PS: The seagate drive will be fine.

The CX range are indeed a good budget PSU and it will *probably* be fine. £10/£15 more and you are in corsair TX range. The TX650 PSU is spot on. CX warranty - 2 years - TX warranty - 5 years :)

I guess for the extra 15.00 it would be rude not to :D
