MattP
I went to our local cinema with the Girlfriend last night to catch a late showing of The Iron Lady, the film basically shows Maggie Thatchers exploits and reasoning for said exploits all in all its a very good watch even for people who are not particularly interested in politics. I Would recommend a watch if anybody has been debating on wether or not to go see it.

MattP
Well as you can see from my profile I am from the North East of Engand and the film aims to make people feel sympathetic towards Maggies position both then and now so its interesting to hear if people from the North East a region well known to Hate Maggies work are converted into thinking actually she didnt do such a bad job
CJ
If the film aims to get sympathy for Mrs T and her premiership, I think it will get short shrift down here in south Wales.

Graham1984
I thought there were a group of people itching to dig a hole for her so deep they could hand her over to satan themselves.

Rob
The comedian Mark Thomas did suggest that if we end up paying for a state funeral for her, turning up with some coal and pelting the coffin with it would be a fun protest. I worked with a chap in Leeds, wee fella, but he was an ex miner and extremely bitter about Thatcher and the Tories to the point where it was uncomfortable to even go near the subject, but then I thought, hang on, he's now working in this office as an education consultant on a salary way over 40K. Had the mines not been shut down and the unions smashed, he'd still be underground digging coal every day. Maybe, just maybe, he is much better off due to Thatcher. I never had the balls to say that to him though, and of course, I'm only talking about his particular case. Privatising trains and buses was a bad idea of hers though. mobius
Still hurts up here in Scotland too the result one tory MP in the country. Remember we had poll tax 2 years before anyone else as an experiment, along with the mines, shipyard, steel jobs that were lost. I left school in 81 and never got into full time employment until I was 21; 5 years of getting shoved from one training course to another, eventually when I was 21 paid £1000 to get my HGV license by borrowing money from relatives due to " Maggie in her glorious wisdom stopped giving grants for people to do the HGV course as too many going for it", that quote imprinted from a DSS worker when I asked about funding toward it, then as I would be technically unavailable for work during my 2 weeks self financed training they stopped my benefit. Sorry for rant was in good mood until started thinking of all this crap again
