ManwithSupra
Hi All, I need to get hold of some stuff to remove a layer of paint off Anodised aluminum without damaging the Anodised layer. Anyone have any suggestions? Cheers all.

Pulley
Most anodising is fairly tough, can I ask wot it is that's anodised?, could get it acid stripped and re-anodised

Morpheus
I'd just use normal Nitromoors type Methylene Chloride based paint stripper. It didn't do me any harm. Tricky-Ricky
Just for anyone who wants to remove anodizing, this is from my old bike building days, when most anodizing was black and i wanted to mirror polish the alloy, i used a strong solution of caustic soda, you can paint it on with a nylon brush (real hair dissolves) or dip it but keep a close eye on it as it will eventually dissolve the alloy. ronttuk
If its cellulose paint cant you just use cellulose thinners? Oil base paint use very hot water or steam cleaner. Emulsion jet washer
