MONKEYmark
hi just looking at a TRD 320 kph speedo and TRD 10k tach found out there is 2 types of 320kph speedo`s one with milage counter and one without. car has been converted to mph for sva test. will the new speedo give false readings with it been a kph clock or does it not matter due to kph to mph conversion. how will the mileage meter work say my car has 60,000 miles on and the new clock is at zero will it just start counting from zero. i know uk supras have an electronic mileage meter. mine is on the speedo itself and is a non electronic type. just wondering if it will be worth getting or if its too much hastle.the clock has just kph so dont know the legal side. think it was more for a cosmetic change more than anything.is it just uk cars with electronic milage meter or did jap gz cars have it too. the supra clocks are 4 & 5 in the picture http://www.takakaira.com/accessories/trd/speed1.jpg going to order a 10k tach too, cant see there been a problem with that. thanks also TRD site if anyone wants it http://www.toyota-trd.com./en/strt/index.html did a search and found nothing. MONKEYmark
thanks just curious about the milage thing if it will cock it all up. if counters on low miles it might look like you have changed the mileage. was just an idea will just get the tach for now. Darren
car has been converted to mph for sva test. will the new speedo give false readings with it been a kph clock or does it not matter due to kph to mph conversion I wondered this aswell? If it works ok does that mean u would end up with a 320mph speedo? Atlast 1 up on the skyline boys as some of them have 200mph clock! Just joking Supras and Skylines, I lov em both..just wish I could afford both! Darren
Matt Harwood
Darren, Yes it would. - I'm currently running around with a 300 mph speedo as I've just fitted a UK speedo to my existing wiring with the converter in place. The UK speedo shows 300 kmph which I'm reading in MPH at the moment. Whilst this may sound good, you have to be doing about 120 mph to get the needle to even reach half way round the dial! THOR Racing
Monkey, pre-facelift j-spec's had the electronic odo, post facelift with the 5 gauges had mechanical built into the speedo. Just remember that even though one odometer is VFD (Vacuum Flourescent Display) and the other a mechanical rotary barrell that they are BOTH driven by the same electrical signals from the speed sensor. The mechanical unit just uses a stepper motor inside to translate to rotary motion. So the same principles apply to the Jap spec pre-facelifts and the facelifts when converting KPH -> MPH.
