an amplifier was on ebay, i exprest interest in the product, but didnt bid.

after the auction ended, i had a reply through ebay messages from seller, asking do i still want it.

i said yes, and paid £35 to him through paypal (Not ebay)

this was on 30th December, he said he would post it ASAP, but i havent received it, and sent him a few messages the last week but had no reply.

i know its a bit early and it may arrive, but due to the lack of any replies, i have panicked and starteed a dispute with paypal.

will i get the £35 back? will they simply retract it from the seller? or only if the seller agrees it..

i didnt send it as gift.

just looked on ebay, he isnt an active user, and someone else has posted on 4 days ago saying beware takes payement & doesnt send.

supose my fault didnt check his rating.

If you did it as a payment for good then I think you should be fine. People like that really get to me! Good luck mate

We had a similar problem rang paypal they froze his account said our £300 was safe and if we didn't get the goods our money would be returned three months later we got £3.26 back paypal said that's all that was left in his account so that's all they could refund . After various phone calls etc we gave up and have never used paypal again with eBay

You should be fine mate. I'm surprised you were able to raise an official dispute so early though.

Also, Christmas is the 25th bud :)

the seller is no longer registered, hence he was able to open a dispute so early :)

did you pay using your paypal baland or your credit/debit card? I suggest you raise an "unauthorised transaction" via your bank! easiest and quickest way to get your money back

hmm.. maybe worth asking the bank, from the banks point, i cant see it making much difference if it was from ebay or paypal,

i know its only £35, but its the principle. plus im a tight arse lol

IMO you are getting way ahead of yourself and are metaphorically running around like a headless chicken. Give paypal time to deal with it and see what they come back with, at least let them reply fgs.

It isn't an unauthorised transaction so there is not a lot your bank can do about it, you have authorised the payment afterall. If you had paid it through a credit card then you would have been able to claim it back that way, but again as it wasn't an unauthorised transaction it would have taken a little longer (as they need to give the person a chance to come through).

I almost lost £3500 through ebay/paypal last year. Someone got my details and maxxed my cc out, emptied my bank acc and ran my o/d to the limit. Paypal/ebay/police/my bank weren't bothered at all and all blamed the rest. I even rang paypal to put a stop on my account and they refused, by the time I got to my bank another £1000 had gone out. my bank and the police said it was authorised as when you give paypal your details you give them permission to take your money

Got the money back in the end, took a few weeks, lots of overdraft charges and cc overlimit fees which they wouldn't cover. It was the most frustrating situation. I had to lie in the end and tell ebay that the financial services ombudsman were taking up the case and they had said they would chase ebay/paypal for compensation for the distress caused. Funnily enough the next day had an email from paypal to tell me that the person that took my money had got in touch with them to pay it all back....... They wouldn't pay the charges though and didn't admit any fault.

From what I could tell you give all of your bank/cc info to paypal therefore giving them permission to take money. The only protection is the password. which isn't as secure as it could be. Paypal told me I had authorised someone to take the money by giving them my password. I can't recall giving my login details to anyone in India.

all ive done at the moment is register the comnplaint,

they havent asked any details really, they just ask whats the nature of the complaint, and enter a message to send the person.

i asume in 30 days they will investigate further?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a problem at the moment and I will advise no one use a company called ready flowers. They owe me a refund of 106 pounds, iv escalated it to a claim. I hope I get my money back paypal said I will if he don't respond in 7days, iv made numerous calls they keep lying the refund was issued because they never sent my goods. The worst is I found a site from facebook all about negative reviews about them!
