Supra N_A
Just bought a new FULL HD 42 inch LG tv now when I am watching DVDs threw my surround sounds dvd player I want to kno what quality the screen is actually showing as on my previous tv you could click on e.g 1080hd now with this it does not give you the choice it just says "HDM1" but when i click the menu button it says 16:9 now is that 1080 i presume?? also says 576p 50hz i just thought it would say 1080hd like the ps3 tells you if you want it in 720 etc etc... also how do you change it if so to higher definition? welshbuddy
hey mate, may i ask how much did you pay for your tv. ive just bought a 40" HD 3D smart LED 1080p samsung 400hz refresh If your tv can go to 1080p-that is the best you can get Then it is -720p -1080i Also the do you know what Hz you are running? the higher there better of course as its a refresh rate. You sure it does not say HDM"i"? as that is a connection port.
imi
16:9 is just the aspect ratio. the TV itself should tell you what resolution is being displayed through the source with the media.
MattP
Your TV is showing your DVD in 16:9 Format this basically means the way the picture is set on screen HD 576p Most likely Upscaled At 50Hz This is the speed that your screen Flickers (Refreshs) the faster the better Your TV has automatically assigned these settings as its most likely the optimum settings for your DVD player Remember that Full HD 1080p can only be achieved with a Blu-Ray player or HD-DVD player assuming you have a good quality DVD upscaler I think you can hit 720p with standard DVDs. You cannot adjust your standard DVD player to show full HD or Refresh at 100HZ If you buy a blu ray player or use the PS3 it will automatically assign the maximum resolution and refresh rate supported. tbourner
There should be a setting on the DVD player somewhere for HDMI Audio or something similar.
