Jellybean
If the Aussies are to be believed, you can have quite a lot of poke if you want. Looking on the Web, alot of the tuning scene seems to be in Oz !
garethr
True, plenty of examples of the 20-series Soarer and 70- and 80-series Chaser/Cresta/Mark II down under, as well as the Mk3 Supra.
martin p
The 1G isn't a bad engine, yep its lacks torque, but with its 4.55 diff is quick off the line, My old one would top X4X happily and that was stock. Also given regular oil changes it doesn't suffer the same as the 7m engine for bottom end failure or H/G failure. the stock turbo's can cope with 1bar ok, and make it a fair bit quicker. I've had 2 1G powered mk3's and 2 7m powered ones Now rebuilding a 1jz powered one.
Krister
I'd love to get a mint condition JZA70 TT-R with a 1JZ. Great and underrated cars and they really look great with tasteful body/wheel/suspension mods. Might have to get one further down the road. nige-rz
It's no supra mate, but lots of power in these and this is going cheap. Plus its been commercialised, so €288 a year to tax. As long as you're not popping down to tesco every 2 minutes in it I can't see you getting too much hassle! Looks a nice motor, doesn't mention mileage etc but might be worth giving him a buzz! http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2815270

nige-rz
Would nearly try commercialising the supra Was thinking the exact same thing. I dont really use the car for going to shops etc, so I dont see how it could cause that much bother. If stopped just say you're pricing up a job. Get some fake builder cards made up by vista print for a fiver! SIMPLES Not having the car insured on a trade policy may lead to a few questions though. Last time I was stopped was over a year now, worth the risk, just converting it might be pricey All u need to do is change the tax bracket on her when you go to the tax office,if they contest it, just show them the doe ,I know John had issues getting a for this year because they wanted Toyota headed paper illustrating the gross weight, mechanic was just being a Dick about it

Only hard bit is you have to weld up the sockets for the rear seatbelts. (or at least make it look like this has been done ) I'll have a word with him tomorrow about this, see what it'd cost. I could almost guarantee he'd do it for you for less than 100, but ill ask to make sure mate!
Nodalmighty
Some chap came to Silverline Racing on Monday with one of these. Offered it to Steve for £500, that was a Black TT manual narrow body I believe (Rare). 1G-GTE can be tuned to a decent level. Steve's own car was about 400bhp with nothing more than a big single and a Link G3 ecu strapped to it's arse. Weird dizzy arrangement will scupper most aftermarket ecu's though. We went with a 6 x 1ZZ-FE COP setup and chucked the dizzy in the bin..

Parfit is out by me at the airport, they specialise in this sort of thing, but Joe at metal works I am sure could weld them up for me; Since I got the car , somebody sat in the rear 2-3 times in over 3 years Nigel on here tried it a few yours back but he went to the VRT office, from what I see you change your particular via the tax office, will try track down somebody who is a DOE mechanic and works in the motor tax office, only thing about the DOE is will the car fit on any of the ramps!
