Branners
Part of the plan for Dragonball is to issue route plans for Garmin and TomTom satnavs. We just found out that the latest batch of Tomtom devices do not have the ability to take itn or itinerary files. It is something to do with the software on the PC and not the actual device. But all the same, it will not take the route plans we have lined up. If you have a Tomtom make sure it has the itinerary option in the route planning section. My question is, if I cannot rely on getting a Tomtom with that feature, which Garmin satnav should I go for? I need lane assistance, multi point planning (ie waypoints) and a 5" screen. Not fussed about live traffic or super whizzy stuff. Just need a big screen and multi point planning. wile e coyote
Just found this on tomtom site Create and save an itinerary An Itinerary is a plan for a journey including more locations than your final destination. Note: This feature is not supported on all devices. To learn how to plan an itinerary, click on the name of your navigation device below: GO 2000 series, VIA series, GO LIVE series GO x40, GO x30, GO x20, GO x10, GO, XXL 540, XL 340, XL, ONE, ONE 2nd edition, RIDER So does that read that the ones listed have it ? wile e coyote
Found this also Re: Itinerary Planning on Tom Tom Device Options 22-07-2011 11:48 PM Hi DHN, Thank you for your response. I searched through the products and I have zeroed on Tomtom GO Live 750. The Product code below the product says GCPO.002.006. I wanted to make sure before I take the pluge of £150 that this device has itinerary. Can you please advise? I looked in the reference guide (http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/gox50_live/refman/TomTom-GO-x50-LIVE-en-GB.pdf) I also looked at the customer reviews on Amazon & searched for the word "itinerary" and I got 3 reviews stating that this product has the itinerary function. Many thanks and kind regards,
Guigsy
also found this regards the french laws... just update your device Is the TomTom Speed Camera service legal? Most governments and local authorities agree with us that the TomTom Speed Camera service makes driving safer. At TomTom we comply with (local) legislation and where necessary adapt our practice. Changes to the law in France From 4 January 2012 a new law in France makes it illegal to be warned about the location of speed cameras while you are driving. If you have the TomTom Speed Camera service on your device, you are breaking the law if you continue to receive the speed camera warnings and you risk getting a fine. How to stay within the law There are two things that you should do: Disable Speed Camera alerts for France on your device. [ show me how... ] Update your device with the latest Speed Cameras. This will remove the Speed Cameras for France from your device. [ show me how... ] Note: If you manage your device using TomTom HOME and if you don't have a subscription to Speed Cameras, you need to manually remove the Speed Cameras for France. [ show me how... ] We are working on a new service for France that warns you about danger zones instead of speed cameras. To keep up-to-date with the latest news about this new service, subscribe to this page by clicking the Notify me link at the end of the page. We'll send you a mail when more information is available. Switzerland In Switzerland, the use of the TomTom Speed Camera service is forbidden and we do not offer Speed Cameras for Switzerland. Other countries The British government allows use of the TomTom Speed Camera service for inappropriate speeding on the roads to prevent unsafe driving. In Germany, the use of Radar warning hardware, like “Stingers”, is forbidden under §23 Abs. 1b StVO 75, but software for speed cameras is not forbidden – however, there is not yet a legal precedent to confirm this. In addition, the government of the UK states the following about speed cameras in navigation systems: "The Government will not be prohibiting those devices that rely on Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to warn drivers of published camera sites or posted speed limits, as these compliment the Government's policy to ensure that camera sites are visible and conspicuous to drivers, and so help deter excessive and inappropriate speeds on the roads." However, you remain responsible for the use of the TomTom Speed Camera service. On most of our navigation devices you can easily remove these for any individual country. johnny g
For anyone with TomTom for iPhone, you can set this up easily, just do the following. Open TomTom Go to Advaned Planning, it will show a screen: Depart From Enter Calais as the Departure. It will ask for Destination, use the address of the hotel: NH Capelle, Barbizonlaan, 2. 2908 MA Capelle a/d IJssel (The Netherlands) On the next screen, there'll be a +1 on the bottom left. Press that, click Coordinates. Lat: 51.15904, Long: 2.75201, Same process for: Lat: 51.2656362, Long: 3.0079798 And finally for: Lat: 51.58948, Long: 3.64535 That should do it
Littler
I've found this on the TomTom forums: This is the schedule for the moment: The first Navcore updates: end of 2010; Maps (also latest map guarantee): end of 2010; Add your own POIs: end of January 2011; MapShare: Q1 2011; Backups: Q1 2011: Route planning with multiple waypoints: Q2 2011 Note that this schedule was released in December 2010. It seems that it was never done and everybody is asking for the feature to return. John, looking at the older models it seems the last TomTom's with the itinerary planning have a 4.3" screen but not sure whether you would want to buy an old model or not? Branners
I think the TomTom XXL Classic IQ Routes Sat Nav - UK, ROI & WE might have it, they say any of the devices that come with Tomtom Home software can do it. I think I'm going to go and see Halfords and ask the sales person to demo it and confirm it does it, and if not I will get it taken back. I want the 5" screen as I cannot make a mistake on Dragonball with 35 cars following me, I need to see the lane assist clearly and be certain I know what the next junction is going to do. I just cannot bring myself to buy a Garmin when I have spent so long getting used to the Tomtom software.

Branners
yep, I also checked the other options which were the Golive 825 and Start 25, those two do NOT have it. I found this page where you can search for the usual manual and then check if the itinerary stuff is listed. http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/list/kw/TomTom%20XXL%20Classic%20IQ%20Routes/c/2485/search/

johnny g
Does the tomtom app still work if you loose a signal? It does some interpolation, based on current speed and assumes you don't stop or turn.
