i have a 54 plate vito 109 and it has not missed a beat buddy, bit thirsty id say, if driven a little frantic but other than that it has served our Business well. Heard great things about Transporters too but not sure about the older variants.

one thing with the Vito to watch out for is rust buddy, we had a respray to cure it but its stating to show again

I would stay away from any of the mercs, they all rust badly, especially the price range your looking for. They cost loads to do anything to and from my experience working for a business with 4 they are very unreliable and thirsty. Transit all the way for economy and reliability.

I've had a Peugeot Boxer 2.8HDI since new, basically the same as the Fiat Ducato and Citroen Relay as they're made in the same factory by their partnership PSA , a little wider than the Transit and really nice to drive, the parts prices were okay with good reliability. Great in the winter with front wheel drive.

If you get a Transit size van I would definately get a front wheel drive, I know the transits are available in fwd and rwd.

I reckon the Ford vans would be good with the TDCI engines, easy to get parts.
