Contact lenses online

I've used lenstore.co.uk several times for my contacts now, always reliable and well packaged.

A quick Google search usually turns up a 5% off code as well.

Just out of interest have you ever tried acuvue oasys? I did use acuvue advance but switched to oasys and found them much more comfortable for long periods of use, last an 18 hour day and still not give any problems. Can't recommend them enough.

Although I appreciate what works for some people might be unbareable for others.

I will have a look at those and see how they feel. I did try a few when Acuvue stopped my original ones. I found I could feel them in my eyes and so tried the Acuvue 2 and I dont notice them. But I do get tired eyes so I will look at the Oasys ones.

I like the Acuvue2 units as you can leave them in over night.

I was just about to go OT by asking that. I really need to get my eyes tested as I've noticed my long site starting to deteriorate. Years back I used to wear the fashion lenses (I know, I know) and often when drunk I would fall asleep with them in. Other than bright red & sore eyes the next day I never really had much trouble other than one day when the contact made it's way to the back of my eye, fortunately after much blinking, panicking and poking I managed to get it out... so one of the things that's important to me is that they can be left in overnight.

Are there a few options with the overnight 'feature'?

Branners my wife just told me she uses Acuvue ones too, she ordered them from specsavers and pays a DB of £15 per month.

Her contact lenses are 2 weekly ones, so every month they post out 2 to her. She said they are comfortable too, she can provide more information if you need it.

This reminds me of you saying last Dragonball you didn't want to look like and I quote "A dinner lady from Leeds" :D

how interesting - I pay 22 per month to specsavers for their brand of daily disposables (which are re-branded anyway), they do offer acuvue (daily disposables) for 38 per month - this site offers significant savings and i think im going to cancel my contract.

BTW: how much do you guys pay for a contant lense annual check (opticians through that in for free).

I've left the oasys ones in overnight several times, got some initial blur when I first open my eyes, but a few blinks later and they are good to go for another day. Might be worth asking an optician to purchase a single pair, as I can only see boxes of 6 online.

I just checked how much my contact lenses are online (Acuvue 2) and they are a fraction of the cost I'm paying my optician.

Anybody use any of the online lens places and can recommend them as being reliable?

thanks

Just had my third delivery of lenses from the Netherlands, sick of pleading for prescriptions from opticians who have already been paid for eye tests, and have had it ever so good for decades, and who still think frames and lenses are without marketplace competition. No issues at all, far cheaper to pay privately for eye tests and go into the international marketplace for the actual optical product. I wish I had investigated this ages ago. Be sure to keep up with eye tests and current prescription requirements, of course. I was amazed to hear a wealthy local pub goer claim that he had terminated private health care, as his lifestyle meant he was paying what he thought an outrageous sum. His consilatory abdominal scan was only going to cost under £400, and he has the means to cover major private surgery and recuperative costs, but hey, sometimes taking the risk and abandoning insurance pays off, I know it has with our menagerie over the years. Even the big local (but in the sticks) veterinary practice has a truck pull in monthly for body scanning pets, and I KNOW it's a good earner. My accountant, over much alcohol, once admitted cosmetic and abortion clinics were major money earners, albeit with a big take set up costs. I believe many professional practices are still creaming it from the gullible and those with no choice, or the lack of confidence to make one.

Looks like I may need to change my optician. I am paying £15 a month and I only get a new set of lenses every 2 months..!!

H.

Nush says you need to go to specsavers! :D

Her lenses are ones you use for 2 weeks & then bin, she said they also provide lense solution every month & also lense case each month. Finally they replace them free of charge if you accidentally damage them. All for £15 a month (you can even get it for £10 depending on lense).

Asda were the cheapest I found. I did find another which just sold "generic brand" lenses (in regular and moist), which a friend swore by, who were extremely cheap but I thought I'd stick with known brands. I don't wear contacts often enough for it to be a big deal anyway.

Your prescription from your opticians will need to be less than a year old and state the specific brand of contact lenses you are buying. However they accept scanned in copies of the prescription and I believe photoshop can do wondrous things.
