Maxx
Before anyone says it I've searched already. My handbrake and main warning lights are staying on when the handbrake is released. I've done the following: Checked my brake fluid and its on Max. Checked the fluid sensor plug is secure on the reservoir. Checked the handbrake switch is plugged in properly under the centre console. The only thing I haven't done is take the switch itself out to check it as this is a tad fidely and thought I see if anyone had any other ideas. Maxx
Cheers Chris but I'm already over the 'max' mark I think its the switch itself. You mention error codes and I've heard them mentioned before, how do I obtain these codes and what equipment will I need to do it?
Ian C
Chris?! Anyway, check here for the how-to on diagnostic codes. You will need: 1. A paperclip And that's it -Ian

jamesgtr
With some Toyota's, when the handbrake light stays on, it means one of your brake light bulbs is blown. Have a check.
Maxx
Cheers James I'll check that when I get home tonight, hadn't thought of that
Maxx
James, you are a star. Popped into Halfrauds on the way home and changed the passenger side brake light bulb. Warning lights goes out as per normal.
irfan_habib
I have a similar issue on my Supe but not quite the same. The warning and handbrake lights come on occassionally, just for a second or so though. It's normally when I have to brake hard. I need to now replace my front brake discs and all brake pads, plus the brake fluid is between the min and max level. So I reckon it is that. Unless I am mistaken? Will be replacing the brake pads and discs asap, in fact getting some quotes now.

irfan_habib
Thanks for the confirmation. Was a little worried that there was some other problem... a bigger, more expensive one!
