Dnk
You buy each part seperately from Toyota and the cambelt is probably around £

Tricky-Ricky
A gates belt from your local factors will probably cost you £20 and is likely the same or better than the third party that Toyota use to manufacture their belts;)
Lude
out of curiosity, whats the average labour cost for a cambelt change?

fastcar
out of curiosity, whats the average labour cost for a cambelt change? Looking at 2-3 hours at £35-£45 an hour at a loose guess. Haven't been to a garage for a while so not sure of the rates. The cambelt is fairly easy to change as long as you take your time and don't rush it:cool:
Lude
i paid £400 for cambelt change on my 316i recently, from my usual garage, (parts and labour) few people paid the same from other garages, i would asume the Supra would be the same price? ashbuster
i paid £450 on my golf gti with parts ive been quoted £188 with parts by a mobile mechanic for the supra (not sure if this is good for the sup) i guess it depends on how easy the job is, prices were a full timing kit
Lude
hmm yea all well and good giving a cheap quote and estimate, but when they realize its a pig of a job and need special tool to remove do it all, its a different matter. (if thats the case lol) serious note though i do beleive you need a special tool, someone on here had one and lent it out til it went missing i beleive..... I have Iky's bar for removing bottom pulley if that's the tool you mention as missing. If it is, it's still with me but certainly not missing. fastcar
Yep you will need that tool to remove the bottom pulley. There is no diffrents between na and TT when it comes to the cambelt
carlmhtt
sorry mate, i wasnt implying it was still missing, i remember an old thread a while ago where it wasnt returned, but only mentioning it as in reference No worry's mate, just didnt want anyone to think its lost. I have removed my bottom pulley which did not come easy, I used a impact driver to finally remove the bolt. I have not returned it yet as I thought Id keep it to refit the wheel which I have not got around to doing yet. If anyone should need it desperately then Ill get it returned back to Iky for re-distribution.. Carl
