Ian C
Just a curious question, while I'm sat at work. Does anyone else get a whine from their diff area when the car is cold and you're doing around 25mph +/- 3mph ish? Any faster or slower and it isn't there, and it also goes away after a couple of miles and doesn't do it in the summer, so I assume it's to do with cold fluid. I first noticed it several years ago and nothing has fallen off yet The diff fluid level was fine last I checked, but maybe I should think about replacing it someday? I've heard it's one of the worst smelling jobs on a car though -Ian
Chris Wilson
Is your car an auto? If so it may be cold ATF making a noise as it is sucked through the pick up strainer.and not the diff. If anything cold thick oil makes worn diffs quieter.
Ian C
Nope it's a manual Listening to it recently, it's bizzare, at some point between 27 and 28mph the whine goes away instantly, it doesn't just increase in pitch until it goes away. I'll try and record it just for a larf.
