Im sorry but i cannot stand the bourne films having read the first 6 books. The storyline was changed dramatically for the film and the books are just far better. There wasn't even a mention of a Carlos The Jackal in the first 3 movies which is what the first 3 books are all about

Perhaps because of the movie, 'The Day of The Jackal' ?

Maybe they thought it would be a bit of an obvious reference and wanted to be more original?

Anyway, I hope Matt Damon returns later on to sort this new guy out. He looks very shifty to me. :sly:

Prometheus International Trailer (UK)

I thought to post a new thread, but oh well...

This is by far the most anticipated movie for me!

I need to watch Alien really, don't have a clue what the whole story is.

You need to watch Alien and Aliens (Alien 2) mandatorily ... 3 is OK, 4 is... if you have free time to waste :D

Prometheus is not directly connected to Aliens, but still is a prequel. Same corpration - Weyland Yutani, same planet, same space ship... lots of clues...

I can't really figure how you missed one of the best movies of all times!!!

If you like your films, the first trilogy is a must see.

The first film is iconic. It blends sci fi and horror in the most effective way I've ever seen, Ridley Scott utilising the fact that what you don't see is often more frightening than what you do.

The second film is genuinely one of the best action films of all time. Cameron was obsessed with the details, and because of this the characters are actually believable, a rare thing in a sci if film. The film is still often used by psychologists and teachers of leadership studies due to its effective simplification of complex dynamic leadership styles and transference in chrisis situations.

The third film is generally regarded as the worst of the original trilogy, but the production is a fascinating story in itself, beset by unrealistic expectations, cost cutting and constant interference by the 20th century fox. The director, David Fincher was so put out he walked out before the film was finished, and disowns it to this day. The directors cut, much longer than the theatrical release, is a huge improvement. An interesting fact about the film is that Michael Beihn was paid as much for his cameo appearance in the film as he was for his full supporting role in Aliens :)

Had the film gone more smoothly, it could well have been the best of the lot.

Unfortunately, the rest of the series just dilute the franchise :(

Oh I've seen the first 3, but it was a long time ago and I don't really remember it, so I know what it's all about and remember loving 1 and 2. I keep meaning to buy the quadrilogy on Blu-Ray (if it's available) but the wife has no interest so I have to keep arguing my case (and losing).

I just mean I need to watch them all again so I can be up to date, otherwise I know I'll miss important snippets in this new film.

I agree, but still 1st and 2nd parts are the best... and yes, director's cut editions add about 30mins to each movie, so it's a MUST! I am happy I am not alone in the Aliens universe :D :D :D Cheers mate :friday:
