Saab declares bankruptcy

My friend had a 2006 Saab 93 Convertible which I drove a few times. His car had only 8k or so on the clock, but the interior centre console & other bits were so creaky. The car suffered from scuttle shake when going over drain pipes, his car died a few times on him, once a starter motor on such a new car! Another time something happened to the EGR value causing loads of black smoke, warning lights always on the dash about his front light etc, stitching on the front leather seat came off when he done around 10k on the clock!

Looked pretty nice though, and the 1.9 diesel engine was pretty good (sounded awful).

We always knew this was going to happen, no profit for quite a few years as well if I remember.

My mate got a silver 93 Sport a couple of months ago on contract hire. It had that many problems, he got the contract cancelled and now has a BMW 320d and loves it.

How many cars have been returned or just not purchased because of bad press.

Yeah they did not make any profit the last 10 years or so. It used to be a good car back in the 80ies But go ruined by GM. Like Ford did to Volvo. The most sad part is that the emploies had to take loans from Banks as Sweden policy is that aslong as a company is not declared bankrupt they wont help to pay the sallery.

Then we have Victor myller and his ryssian Buddy taking the last money from the company.

And i have to agree the cars where 10 years behind when it comes to interior design. Sad tho cuz they had really good engineerers. They had an engine 10 years back with varible compression, But GM pulled the plug on that one.

I had a 93 Aero ttid with the twin turbo diesel engine. Not the highest quality product in the world but great for high mileages.

Comfy, quick and well equipped.

We still have it in the company and it has done nearly 100k miles now without a hitch.

I like your seats and steering wheel. I've got an OMP suede deep dish drifting wheel on my Logitech G25. Feels so nice with fantastic grip.

I've never driven a SAAB but they have some loyal followers, for sure. The 900 turbo was apparently the most popular?

Probably because they make many extreme dull cars that are driven by people who wear toupes. However, they make some fantastic ones too. I doubt they're going anywhere for a long time though! :D

R8 them very highly myself. :)

Nothing surprises me anymore though. Mercedes or BMW could go under tomorrow. Let's face it, all the biggest banks are bankrupt without public 'support'. It's only a matter of time unless this whole toxic debt nonsense is written off and we start again. It's not even real debt, just bank fraud.
