j_jza80
Recently I've been inundated with what I can only describe as Christmas 'trick or treaters' Small groups of teenage lads keep turning up at the door, reciting a few lines of 'We wish you a merry Christmas' and expect money! I've started saying no carol singers without adults to them, which they don't seem to like very much! I don't remember any of this until upto maybe a couple of years ago, is this the norm now? Things like this, and the commercialism of it, is starting to taint Christmas for me now (maybe I'm becoming a grumpy old man?! )

Josh
Can't say I've ever seen or heard of that happening. We didn't even get any trick or treaters this year.
Havard
Are you supposed to pay carol singers?
j_jza80
Are you supposed to pay carol singers? I think you're supposed to offer them a drink and/or some food. If I give these guys food my house or cars will end up wearing it
Nemesis
Give them figgy pudding (whatever that is).
tbourner
We don't get many, the odd 6 year old but that's about it. My mum gets a lot of teenagers, and when she gives them crisps and sweets they end up in her front garden the following morning (the crisps, not the teenagers). Dnk
I've had them do this to me, you get the 1st line of a carol quickly followed by the we wish you a merry xmas part followed by the bang on the door. Been happening for years Just ignore them is the best policy
