If the seller is trying to sell then you'd have thought it would be in a condition ready to buy.

Unfortunately the car does need to be taxed for driving on the road unless its on its way to a pre-booked MOT.

The best thing to do would be to get the seller to tax it before you turn up to look at it, after all you'd want to take it for a test drive before you buy yes?

If the car doesn't sell then all the seller needs to do is hand back the tax disc and claim a refund for the remaining months.

No loop holes for the tax, the only way to get it home without taxing it would be to get it on a trailer.

If you are genuinely interested then get the owner to tax it for you, if he has a friend who is a dealer or who you know is a dealer then they can tax the car for you without you insuring it by taking their trader insurance policy. You then insure the car & drive home with a taxed & insured car.
