Chris Wilson
I rarely post on medical or emotional issues but thought I'd share a bit of GOOD news during this austere festive season. One of our 2 rescue dogs, Archie, a Hungarian Komondor, had a lump on his thigh develop a little while ago, and it grew quite rapidly. It looked suspect to me, and became infected. He went to the vet last Thursday to have it removed, and even the vet was unsure and unhappy about what it was, so yet more money outlay for it to be sent to pathology for analysis. Results are just back, a benign hair follicle tumour, with no need for concern You shouldn't have favourites, but I admit he's a bit special in our hearts, a real gentle giant and a lovely laid back temperament unless seriously riled. So, big relief, and I don't begrudge the (big) bill for him. His six inch wound is having the clips out next Tuesday, it's down to him to grow the hair back quickly, I am in no position myself to advise in that regard Archie is the big lad on the left of our Bouvier bitch, Bella. He was about 11 months then, he's a lot bigger now. We keep him trimmed in a Poodle puppy cut, I have had two Komondors before, both with full coats and I just can't cope with a corded one out here in the sticks when they get wet and roll in stuff. Google Komondor to see one with a full coat, they are VERY unusual Best go and try and make some money I guess.
Josh
Aww, big shaggy dog Glad it's been sorted easily (though expensively). Vets' bills are crazy. One of our cats had cancer and just to get the confirmation that that was what it was, it cost over £800 over a few visits!

SPG
Great to hear Chris, its a great space you have for the dogs too. I was admiring Archie when I last visited, and the Mrs almost freaked out when he jumped up to look over the fence

Lbm
Nice ending Chris I'm not a dog owner, so the nearest comparison is when our cuddly drummer in my band was ill recently. He's back on form now and still loves his sticks

Robzki
It is nice to hear some good news for a change, I'm dreading the phone ringing, In fact as I was typing that the phone rang.....but it was good news for a change, someone to confirm they want to buy some piglets Glad archie is ok, have had similar in the past where a (not nice) vet diagnosed one of ours with cancer in a callous way a week later after some expensive tests another vet told us it was just a fatty lump, he probably had the same op, lots of staples and a rubber drain. Hope he heals well R

Chris Wilson
Lovely story. Will have some injectors to send for some flow-testing No worries, I have a rear crank oil seal for you if you still want one, I am trying to get more at a good price, but I am not sure if the guy still has any left
Chris Wilson
Thanks for the kind words everyone, it's been a bit of a worry, he's still a very young dog. Trying to stop him jumping field gates is a problem, that'd be almost sure to pop the staples which would equal another big bill. He's getting a bit pent up, he likes his exercise, and on a lead just doesn't hack it, with me wheezing along behind

He pulled a shoulder couple of weeks ago, being reined in is not his favourite thing lol
