Supra Kong
Hello peeps, Just ordered my tt manual Sup from Jurgen and i cant wait! (-: I have been bombarding the poor chap with loads of questions and he has been brilliant!!! ( I would have got annoyed by now lol) My Supra to be runs some BPU has the decats, RR FMIC etc... so should run at 1.1 bar of boost. However, it hasnt got a boost controller.. What do you guys think? Pro's? Con's? Do i need one? Or would it make no difference? Cheers folks
shaky
Open up your RR or get a boost controller set at 17.4 psi or 1.2 bar
Supra Kong
Do you think that'll make much dufference?

Westy
Pics of the car!? Boost controller is a must mate...1.2bar turns the Supra into another animal!
Noz
it might have the RR changed on it already. probably best to wait and see and maybe dyno it (or take a bpu owner for a drive). no point increasing the boost to a level that's already present. add heywood
You're in the "I've got to wait 8 weeks for my car to get here, how will I ever survive!!!" mode lol... I went throught the exact same phase. Wait till the car is here and see what it is boosting at.
Josh
Perform a search. If you get a decent EBC that can match the boost to the gears, you can make the most of the car.
mellonman
if i was at 1.1 i wouldnt bother with a ebc they are great and can help but they also can cause problems with soliniods sticking and make you boost spike dont crank it up too much i had hybrids and had a spec 0f 1.6 but they see a spike of just under 1.5 and kaboom and this is what you get out of the intercooler be warned boost is a killer , but its a killer like dexter one you love lol Edited December 13, 2011 by mellonman (see edit history)
SupraDan24
Just because you have a RR, doesnt mean you will be running at 1.1bar. It depends on the ring you have. Also, a 1bar restrictor ring wont give 1 bar on every set up. Get a BC and be sure what boost your running

Running 1.6 seems extremely high on hybrids doesn't it? I heard that 1.5 should be max?
Supra Kong
Cheers guys, looks like i may invest in one of these... i had one before on my GT4 and never had any problems with it... The HKS ec-3 seems to be a good unit?
Supra N_A
well when BPU the supra it includes boost restrictor ring so there will be no need for a EBC will they??? what i have heard anyways...

Nic
The HKS ec-3 seems to be a good unit? Old and fairly basic model, if you're going to fit an electronic boost controller it's worth spending the money on a good one. If you're on a budget I'd save yourself some money and fit a ball and spring manual boost controller instead. A couple of recent threads on the subject. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?245861-boost-controller-questions&highlight=color http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?246750-Manual-Boost-Controller-VS-Electronic-Boost-Controller&highlight=boost
SupraDan24
Nic's right, it doesnt have to be a digital boost controller, a manual one will do if your on a budget
Supra Kong
Ok, so what model would you recommend now? I like the idea of a digital booster better though as i can play with it whilst in the car! Good threads by the way! Cheers chaps!
