oh dear,, blossom ill lol

Well if he likes a full bodied red thats smooth and slides down like velvet then for me a

good vintage Chateauneuf du pape would tick my boxes.

Where are you going to get the wine from ?

again, no idea - im heading into town//supermarket!!!

Oh, OK, from the way it was worded you were just assuming red was the thing to do but didn't know anything about it.

//edit: Didn't he say what he liked when you found out he likes red? If he just said "I like a nice bottle of red" then anything with an expensive tag on will probably wow him! :D

Well a good vintage 2007 Chateauneuf du pape from Chataeu Mont Redon is one of the best

i've drunk, its £20 a bottle but worth every penny in my book.

I doubt you'll get it from the supermarket though, which one are you going to and i'll see if i can

find you something they sell

This is a nice bottle of red for the car enthusiast.

I actually bought the bottle that was on Top Gear that they put on eBay which I paid far too much for!! I may well have been drunk at the time - very possible as I was drunk when I bought my very first NA Supra on eBay about 6/7 years ago!

I've only tried one of the reds, and it was excellent. The Pinot Grigiot (white) is one of the best I've had at all price levels. Some of the reds, the rose and the Chardonnay tend to be available in supermarkets, the Pinot Grigio only from specialists now :(

My local Spa sells those.

If you want a bargin of a Pinot Grigio (white) try the 2009 Delle Venezie Casa Defra

(Italy) £4.50 p bottle + vat from PaulRobertswines, you have to buy it

by the case though :)

I worked on the wines and spirits aisle at Tescos for three years and if there's one thing about wines that it taught me its that hardly anyone knows anything about them (myself included) :)

If he's a real connoisseur then it would probably be more fair on you to get him to recommend something. If not then.... you're probably fooked, because its all down to personal taste :)

I tend to get through a couple of bottles a week and usually go for what's on offer. If possible I'll get a reduced shiraz or merlot that was originally priced in the £8-£10 range. If I feel like treating myself then I'll look for a bottle of Shiraz from Rosemount Estates. The vineyard might be next to the local sewage works for all I know, but I like how it tastes :)
