Guest stevebratcher
Alright so I'm having some weird issues with my 93 TT 6 speed manual - Occasionally I'll start her up and everything will look like it is just fine, the way it is supposed to be, I don't notice any issues until I start driving. Once I start driving she feels sluggish, almost like running on one turbo at half its normal boost. Laggy, very little power...unexplainable really. So then occasionally I'll start her up and the traction control light will be flashing at me, at this time it'll run like a champ, full power balls to the wall screaming like a raped ape - they way it should be. I have no possible clue as to what the issue could be - I'm new to Supras lol but I've gone over what I thought it could be. I've searched the forums for any similiar issues but all I find is seemingly un-related. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
Tyson
When the traction control is in use it uses a fuel cut to cut the power, sounds to me like you TC might be stuck from a faulty unit ? But it should flash when its on not when it isn't. It definitely sounds like an elctrical issue with the TC though as it sounds like it working in reverse !! Also have a look around the for loose or frayed wires and check your earth contacts as these can lead to electrical problems. stevie_b
Have you checked for error codes? You don't mention the error lights lighting up on the dashboard but it's not unheard of for those lights (both of them!) not to be working (dry solder, usually). No apes have been harmed in the making of my post.
Chris Wilson
The traction control butterfly is probably partly closing due to an electrical or mechaincal issue. Look at throttle position sensor condition and set up, TC butterfly position sensor set up and condition, TC motor condition, and for wheel speed sensor issues. If you have any aftermarket gixmos for KM/h to MP/h speedo conversion, or top speed delimiter, remove them to take them out of the equation. Without a scope and hard won knowledge of how this lot works, and what usually goes wrong with things, you may struggle, especially if it's an intermittent fault. I am happy to have a look at it if you get desperate. Cheers.
