hp006
Can someone tell me what the rules are. My niece's school banned me from recording her first nativity play saying its illegal to record under 18's. I was then recording a hockey game when someone stated there was an under 18 on the pitch and I cudnt record the rest of game. I was only recording it for training purposes. From what I have read in Dec 2010 Christopher graham information commisioner has stated provided its for personal use u can record these sort of items? Anyone able to shed some more light. Graham S
I think you've hit a very touchy subject! My daughters school have never mentioned anything about filming or photography at her school plays / sports days etc but our local swimming pool won't allow photography. I'm not sure there is a law as such, I think it's more a case of 'just in case', so they don't get any come back or complaints about people filming etc. I'm going to my baby girls school play this coming Wednesday, so fingers crossed I can film her, as her school plays are so funny. There is always a twist to them! As for the Christopher Graham thing, I'd happily show anyone my video's of my little girl as I'm happy to say all I care about is my girl. End of the day, she is fully dressed so can't see any problems.
Kopite
I don't get the rule either, my mate's mum was threatened with being arrested after leisure centre staff called the police when she took a picture of her kid jumping off a diving board. If you're out at a tourist attraction, is it then "illegal" if a kid wanders in the background of your photo as you're stood next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa or something? Scooter
this annoys the hell out of me..................so much anger distrust and ill-feeling for something i think does nothing to protect children. Since when were pedophiles blatant public photographers anyway? When was the last pedo busted and found to have indecent images of a childrens nativity play on his HD? I think it's a totally unnecessary restriction. Went to my little boys (6) one a week or so ago and they said no pics during the performance due I think to the distractions (it was a musical this year - was ok the previous year) but the kids were all allowed back after for photos, so I don't think the attitudes spread everywhere. The worst thing is if there is a no photos policy then you are made to feel bad (I stop at using the 'made to feel like your a pedophile' line but its close!) if you complain.............overall it's sad more than anything. Ian C
Owners of private property can impose whatever restrictions they like around photography and filming. It's the law. The reasons behind them restricting photography might be complete arse, but it is their right. Perhaps challenging the school policy would be a plan - most people who implement stuff like this fall apart under confrontation when you ask for the specific reasons why that's "policy" See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photography_and_the_law And here: http://www.sirimo.co.uk/2009/05/14/uk-photographers-rights-v2/ For photographers' rights. Ever since the draconian anti-"terror" laws were rushed in, plod started abusing them (no, really, they did, surprising I know) and misquoted stop and search powers (that no longer exist) as reason for threatening photographers with arrest just for taking a picture
SupraStar 3000
I was told off for taking video at Center Percs whilst in the swimming pool. But to be fair, behind my g/f,... whom i was filming,... I'd strategically positioned a group of girls on a hen weekend who were playing strip water volleyball. jon5698
If you notice it is only in this country where this rubbish happens, go anywhere in the rest of Europe or the world and nobody bats an eye lid to people taking pictures and videos of thier children! i mean how else are you supposed to capture memories to humiliate them when they are older? When I was in France, at the coast, some kids (10yr old ish) were hiding among sand dunes, playing with black plastic M16's and pistols, and having a whale of a time. People were walking past paying them no attention at all. Do that here in your back garden and plod will be kicking down the house doors and tasering them for terrorism
gavin.starr
tell them where to go, I would. Ask the person that quiz's you if they have a photo album or any videos of there kids in a play or taking part in a sports day. If they reply with a yes, then i would honestly have to say sod off Im going to carry on taking pics. Every one i know has videos and pics of there kids etc... its all part of making a photo album to cherish and take the piss out of them with when they get older like at birthdays and weddings. This country is slowly turning to sh*t and is far too soft. Gav

Morpheus
Those are truly remarkable pictures. Awesome Thanks for sharing mate. My Dad forwarded the link this morning. His mate's always send him this sort of thing, being retired and having all the time in the world to find it! I was thinking about starting a thread asking you guys what you would do if it became law that your children were to be phyisically tagged or chipped, 'for their protection' against 'fill in the blank boogeyman of the day'. I decided against it, lest I be banned again but this is the root of the child safety scaremongering, fwiw. That's not to say that there aren't dodgy people out there but there's an agenda here, that's my point. Child safety law, anti-terror law, etc. are all being cynically used to push through with a long-term plan to chip everyone. Some say it's already been done with chemtrails, spraying nano-particulate RFID tags that are inhaled and can be activated by mobile phone radiation to produce any chosen chemical frequency in the body with a corresponding chemical effect. A bit like high-tech homeopathy but for all the wrong reasons, allegedly.
snake
some kids may have been moved to a different part of the country/school for their own safety. If they get filmed etc and it ends up where it can be seen I.E .on the net it may result in them being located.
