So we are currently experiencing a hurricane. Started around lunchtime and is expected to continue to hit until around 7pm. There were severe weather warnings yesterday letting us know about this, the country has came to a little bit of a standstill with roads closed, accidents happening, debris flying everywhere, etc. Schools have mostly all closed up for the day along with a lot of businesses looking after the wellbeing of their employees (not me though :( ).

So.... it came to naming the hurricane. There was one name that stood out amongst all others, that name of course was "Bawbag".

I'm not kidding folks, this hurricane has been named hurricane bawbag. It's being reported on via the radio, tv and no doubt the newspapers tomorrow. It started off as a bit of a joke but when strathclyde police started reporting it as hurrican BB there was just no stopping it.

How bad is it up there Scott? Its pretty windy here on the West coast of Cumbria, I live about 100m from the beach on top of a hill so it's fairly wild here. I'm starting to worry about damage to the house and garage roofs tonight if it keeps up.

That's it calming down. At its peak it was pretty wild though. Fortunately it is actually a hurricane so it has basically swept past doing it's damage in one foul swoop. It's just a windy/rainy night here now so definitely past the worst of it.

The wind was REALLY strong though. Tore roofs off etc.

I live on the East Coast and its been brutal all day here in East Lothian, a number of tree's are up-rooted, electricity is on but keeps flickering so got the candles ready for the inevitable. The clouds are proper shifting at speeds (not granny shifting) and it feels like the temp is dropping rather quickly.

I live about 400yrds from the beach and the waves are rather spectacular also.

Seems as if it has shifted up this way from down your way scott, were getting battered! i live close to the beach aswell and its just crazy!

Yeah that's the way it was moving. They said you would be about 2 hours behind us so you will be getting the brunt of it now. It's still wild here but it's more of a normal wild than it was earlier.

How much snow have you guys had up there? We've had none down south yet. Coldest it's been was frosty one morning last week. I reckon this wind might bring it on now though. Probably Arctic. Definitely colder tonight already.
