Chris Wilson
We went to see how a guy we see in the pub and we have become friendly with was getting on with his house restoration project. It was totally derelict with the sky visible from the cellars not that many years ago, the outside in now done, and some of the 17 acres of landscapting and lake creation. He's now on with the interior, most of the plastering is done, all floors are being replaced or repaiered in English oak. mammoth task, but looks the part. He's bought a Lamborghini as a bit of celebration present for finishing the outside of the main building. Will post interior pictures if anyone's interested, at some time. Needless to say he's a builder, and not afraid of hard graft http://www.gatesgarth.com/hall/hall.html

Sheefa
Makes my refurb look tiny even though it took a year and had to have everything done including electrics, central heating, walls rebuilt etc. Like you said as a builder a mammoth task like that must be pure enjoyment albeit a mission. Good on him. Potential profit..............???
SupraStar 3000
He bought a Lamborghini as a bit of celebration present for finishing the outside! Wow! When i've done well the most I can expect is a yorkie bar or 30minutes on the internet with parental internet filter turned off.
Chris Wilson
It's a labour of love, apparently, he ploughs profits from much more modest new house builds back into the old girl. It really looks stunning when you start up the drive though, proper thing

Chris Wilson
IMHO the spookiest house in England has to be Harlaxton Hall near Grantham in Lincolnshire. It was even used as the location for a cult horror film. Sadly our taxation system meant it left private ownership to be bought by the Yanks as a college It was a truly fabulous and grandiose building, putting our modern attempt at celebrating the new Millennium, that bloody failed tent by the docks, into perspective as a hastily conceived and built sad folly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0bke7mPTlY&feature=related
The Raven
Now thats a build! Took me 3 years to build mine. However i wouldnt think this chap gets his hands to dirty? However sometimes keeping an eye on the builders is harder than doing it yourself
Chris Wilson
I can assure you he's a totally down to earth chap, who gets VERY dirty, and is totally hands on at all levels. He also has a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that does an amazing comic routine, when I next go I am borrowing a video camera and will share it with you all, it's hilarious. He's probably VERY different to how you imagine him to be, especially after alcohol has been taken
The Raven
Even better if he is hands on aswell.
