Doesnt look too bad

I bought the Halfords XL cover the other day but we now have high wind

weather warnings for a lot of the country inc the West Mids so im not sure if its worth

risking fitting it

We are in for the same over here, I have her tied underneath the car, at each wheel and on the rear the strap is hooked onto the exhaust; I cannot see it coming off, I also have the Aldi cover XL on underneath the Silver one, the aldi was a better fit but just not big enough to cover the rear too , still not bad for 30 euro

When the extra straps arrive tomorrow i shall fit it and then see what happens, if it rips with the

extra strapping i shall be taking it back and getting a refund.

Mine came off!! , Didnt rip but looking for indoor storage now! Best I seen is 60euro a month @ 1 hours drive from me

How bad is it for the car to leave it outside uncovered, 3-4 months?

Unless you had the car sprayed with a sugar based paint then it should be ok but be prepared for it to get .... dare I say it..... Dirty!!

Car's were designed to be open to the elements so the paint won't mind a bit of sun, frost or rain etc. As long as you keep it clean with polish and wax then the paintwork will last a very long time.

Mines been waxed up to the hilt and will be getting regular cleans. Can't see much issue leaving it outside TBH

Cold last winter killed my Boost controller solenoid/pressure sensor, 125 euro each to get a new one! My spolier has some hiarline cracks on the edge due to the cold and due to freeze thaw action they have slowly expanded, need to get this fixed! Plus the underneath looked very dated compared to before the winter (I never drove her over the winter, sure they dont use Salt like they do in the UK here); I was shocked when I put her up on the ramp, she was alot cleaner under there. This was after she was sitting up outside for about 4 months with a wash every so often.

My car is waxed up to the hilt with Swiss Vax but this year I am going to WD40 the underneath and engine bay, door hinges etc

She took a hammering last winter, and will cost me about 200 euro to repair her, same price nearly to have her sitting in a de-humidified garage; if you can garage her or at least get a cover, where I live if I put a cover on her she will get clamped ao this is why I didnt last year!

Clamped that's crazy !! Why not get your car properly undersealed this will be a much better solution than WD40.

That's a fair point, the regular washes will sort that out.

Bird crap can ruin your paint instantly. My Audi got a dump on the roof in the summer and it won't polish out and I have gone at it with some serious stuff. Covers are great but I worry about the condensation that always seems to be under mine.

Will do in the new year, but it is 450 euro so dont have the $$ at the moment

Can you not get it wax oiled? This is better than underseal apparently

Is your garage not big enough Dunk?

Im in the process of moving the car from where it was garaged to another place but its not ready yet and this is

just a temporary solution to help keep the winter out :)

Garage at home is rather cluttered at the minute

  • 2 years later...

Sorry for the thread revival, but it seems the best place to post

For those of you that have bought the halfords xl all weather cover would you recommend it and does it have a soft inner layer that sits on the car

Also would it be advisable to buy the xl xt one instead for height purposes or would this cause some issues with the wind

ATM my car is fully stock however I will be fitting a bodykit in the near future not sure if it will be a wide one yet

It will be parked in a drive when the cover is on so wind shouldn't be a problem but it will be sat there all winter and I don't really want to be taking the cover off to find any dampness or mild on the car

Thanks in advance

Pete
