Comr on guys this is a community. not everyone can afford big singles. im usinf xs parts til i have faith in the set uo before i flash the cash. comments about buying cheap parts ant fair on the guys who can only afford those bits.

It's nothing to do with the cost mate, it's the quality. The failure rate of XS parts is extremely high, most people who pay for XS components end up paying twice when they fail and they need replacements. It's the reason why they get such a bad reputation on here, nothing to do with the money involved.

I wish you every success with your build but be aware that if it does go wrong there will be a few "I told you so" comments thrown your way ;)

I think the past year they have definitely improved quality. The problem with pumping out bad products, is it takes a long time to get back a good reputation, and that's if when you make a change to quality you start making products that are seriously better. Small improvements get un noticed, and though they do make better products you only hear of `i had a problem getting the manifold to sit right`, you hardly ever hear or bother to remember `yes it fitted ok` as people just think they are trying to save face. Im not saying they are loads better, but there is less and less people complaining about their components.

The only concern with my build is the wastegate. If the turbo fails after 1k miles it won't overly bother me, as I'll be more happy knowing my engine won't wet itself. Id rather have some `told you so` comments about a budget turbo, then spend over a grand on a turbo only to find my gearbox or engine fails. To me I don't have the confidence to pay money where it's not needed without the confidence behind the purchase.

From reading clubna-t forums alot of people dont have issues, it is hit and miss but the point I was making dude is people are aware of the quality standards, I don't think people need to look down at people that purchase these items, comments on this thread would make members who could only afford XS feel rubbish!!

this is of course.... being i do a conversion at high compression with an XS wastegate lol if it cooks my engine I'll probably be back on this thread slating them right off lol HOPEFULLY not :D

I am interested to see how you get on and like scott m said all the best and hopefully it works out for you. I nearly thought about xs-power for a na-t kit but just thought best to either not bother or go whole hog and get the whifbitzs kit.

yes scott is the local bouncer here and says nice things to me :) never had a PM though, not cool enough yet... one day.

hopefully one day il be in the cool gang like you graham. until then... lonely posting...

Personally I would rather save up and live with the N/A power for a while rather than rush in and go for suspect parts. I've worked my ass off this year to get my car where it is but if it wasn't for a bit of luck at the beginning of the year it would never have happened. I could have singled my car 3 times over if I had used XS parts but I just couldn't afford to put it right with the proper kit if it all went wrong. I only really have one shot at this with regards to the manifold/turbo kit etc. If it all goes pete tong then it'll be going back to stock and that'll be that. I've massively increased my chances by buying known quality parts though.

However, if XS has turned a corner then good on them. I would be surprised though as good quality raw material to make a tubular manifold generally costs not far off what they are charging for the complete item. Couple into that the time, other raw materials and expensive machinery it takes to make one properly and they should be making a loss on each one... that is if they are made correctly from good quality thick stainless. The turbos aren't really a lot to worry about, if it goes it goes. They can be easily replaced. Cracking manifolds are a pain and wastegates that can blow your turbo are a pain.

If the manifold isn't braced then add a bit and it will make a world of difference IMO.

The Daywalker always ran on an XS power manifold and Turbo and Steve Whittaker never had a problem with either. The car is still on their front page.
