Jimmy James
Seeing as my car will most likely be a write off, I've been looking at supras for sale and can't find many TT manuals. Question is how much will it cost to convert an auto TT to a six speed? And is there someone that specialises in this on the forum? Thanks for any info
James
You're probably in the region of £3k-£3.5k for the box, prop, clutch, transmission tunnel and labour. That is if you go for the V160/V161 from the TT6. You could do a W58 (NA 5 speed) swap, though it wouldn't last as long!
Jimmy James
Yeah don't want the five speed box mate, was going to do a TT conversion on my n/a this spring and would still have to upgrade the box in that. Would any of my 5speed parts be useful in the conversion if I get my car back as scrap?
Scott
Here since March and still acting like a noob 1. This isn't an off topic thread. It's on the topic of Supra gearboxes. You could argue whether it goes into technical or just general chat. 2. Threads regarding auto to 6spd have been done more times than I've had hot dinners. I'm 31, 20 stone and don't eat my dinner cold so check the maths on that one 3. There are people on this forum that specialise in everything to do with every area of the Supra. No matter what you want done there is someone here who will specialise in it. There is FAR more chance of finding a specialist on this forum than there is of finding one outside this forum (as people's pockets have found out on numerous occasions). 4. Welcome to the forum. 5. Have a nice day HTH

Gaz6002
Don't feel bad, I was only trying to calculate the hot dinner height/weight ratio and lacked the third parameter. All sorted now.

James
I think you'd be lucky to get a good condition box + labour for as low as that now.

James
Yeah excluding labour maybe then. I wouldn't class it as a 'whole conversion' if you don't account for the labour/fitting Unless you do it yourself.
Noz
dont do it mate, get a 6 speed and be done with the hassle.

Jimmy James
Thanks for the info drift_bear, I don't have a garage so would need to add labour to that price then I guess.

IIRC keron does it for a good price and he takes a week to do it.
