I'd never been in a supra with that much power before, I couldn't believe how fast it was. Back then there was only a handful of supras with big singles, so comparing it to our stock uk sup it was incredible. Also standing outside some little chef waiting for everyone to meet for a convoy to some show and hearing Terry S' purple supra coming down poping and banging. That car was mental! JamieP Posted November 29, 2011 Share Posted November 29, 2011 First day I ever drove a mkiv supra is my most memorable id say, picture below is the day i picked up my old red Supra from GT-cars, driving 700bhp T88 supra though the dartford tunnel was fun, from that moment on i was hooked, i will always have a supra in my life. Went to the yard, connected the battery and she started first turn of the key. I let her warm up, rung my MOT man, then had her totally sideways out of the yard for about 50 metres up the road. And I had a MASSIVE smile on my face. Everytime I don't drive her for a long time, i have a massive grin everytime I get back in. I MOT'd her a couple of months ago, and as soon as I pulled her out of the garage it started raining. Almost as if to say "go on, have a play...". staples230uk Posted November 29, 2011 Share Posted November 29, 2011 The week after I bought mine from SupraDan24 I was driving down to london and I had a corolla come past me with the passenger filming the car whilst giving the thumbs up. In that same week noticing myself in a reflection of a shop window sat in my new supe. The thought of I am now driving my dream car was all over my mind lol. One of my most memorable moments was my first trip to suprapod earlier this year. Travelling in a convoy of 5 supras from the East was awesome motorway driving will never be the same. Ray, Colin, Myself, Black Cat and BamBam were all heading a convoy of about 20 Supra's all traveling towards Santapod via twisty country roads. We weren't travailing at crazy speeds, but fast enough for both hands on the wheel and full concentration. I was just thinking how smart a snake of Supras looks behind when suddenly I noticed after the last bend nobody else was behind me. Concerned I alerted the guys upfront by flashing my lights and we found a convenient turning point and headed back. When we slowly rounded the last corner we found the rest of the convoy staggered across the road and a few worried faces. Additionally up an embackment and partially stuck in a tree was a beat up car with driver at the wheel, engine spewing oil, stream and water everywhere. To cut a long story short, it was quickly surmised the car probably came close to hitting one of the following Supra's and over compensated, then lost control. The driver in a thick russian accent demanded we drag his car back on the road and not to contact the police. I can only assume he wasn't insured / taxed. Considering it was 'most likely' also contributed to one of ours Supras being off position on the road, everybody was happy to let Crash'ski on his was without any further fuss. Afterwards I remember thinking, wow! Did the just happen but also i remember how impressed i was everybody mucked in. Some pulling the car off the embankment, other pleading with the driver to get medical assistance or contact the police, others directing traffic, picking up debris, etc. A weird incident, but one which I remember. A couple of weeks ago, I bumped into my mates brother who has a Jaguar XK (one of the newest shapes). We had a quick chat & he was joking that he knew that the white Supra was mine as he fondly remembers my Silver Supra. Anyway just as we were leaving he turned his car around & then waited to let me out. He was revving his engine (which did sound quite nice), so I politely revved mine (which was VERY loud, but sounded pretty nice too!). I then dumped the clutch (first time I had done this), thinking it is only an NA what harm could it do on a dry day with fresh tyres, how wrong was I. The back end just slid straight out! I opposite locked to straighten it up & hit the brakes as well due to the road bump not far up from me. Quite a brown trouser moment as I wasn't expecting it but to be honest it looked pretty amazing! I turned the car around & when we was side by side (facing opposite directions), I smiled a "How you like that..." smile, and he just replied "How the hell you manage that one, I can't get my sideways at all!". I just replied back, "You need the skills to pay the bills" and laughed as I drove off (laughing at how lame my reply was!). That same day I went to pick up my missus from Victoria station & just as she jumped into the car a cab driver (who was in a new Mercedes E Class), walked past the car grinning like mad & gave me a thumbs up! My Mum: Totally hates it My Wife: Grips the 'jesus christ' handle till her nuckles turn white and really hates it! My Dad: keeps shouting SLOW DOWN SLOW DOWN! MY 86 year old nan, who needs a zimmerframe to get about: F**king Loves it! and keeps shouting FASTER FASTER FASTER!!!!! seeing the smile on her face as my 86yr old nan gets an adreniline rush from my supra...amazing!! i guest they just dont make them like they used to! But the one that stands out the most to me was about a week after owning her. I had been driving it so carefully because i didnt want to smash it up. But on this particular occasion i went for an overtake on a double decker bus, This time i put my foot down thinking I knew what was coming (Underestimated the fact that it was wet). When before I knew it I was pretty much 45 degrees facing the bus. I remember thinking OOOOOOOOOH F***************k and the look of one of the bus passengers face, as i over took it sideways. I managed to regain controll and a little flick of the rear end as it settled back down again. The bud driver flashed his lights at me weather or not he was congratulating me I will never know. Common for most but its a bit of a grin central 2 - I was out for meet several miles away in London, a few of us were lost but got chatting to a guy that was driving a fezza 360 with a smug mate. He used to own a Supra, and its kinda how we got chatting. We all decided to move on to a different location/route, I was walking back to the supra when the fezza's passenger shouted "try to keep up". I obliged, and the look on his face as I overtook at 'many a lepton' was priceless. 3 - Loads of shouts of "nice car" always seem to put a smile on my face. Morpheus Posted November 30, 2011 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Someone's reply reminded me of when two guys in a Smart Roadster approached the mini-roundabout from my right that I was at on the 'Magic Roundabout' in Hemel Hempstead and the driver just sat there, both of them staring at my car when they had right of way to continue and there was nothing else stopping them. That had never happened to me in my life but the Supra was (and still is) ever-so slightly unusual, shall we say! All I was thinking was, "Come on! Get a bl**dy move on!" because it's my favourite bit of local road, up the dual carriageway and the roundabout is right at the bottom and they interrupted what was usually a nice powerslide! Childish as it may seem, (to the non-enthusiast), it's good fun to just leave everyone standing at the bottom of the hill in a cloud of tyre smoke! I always give it some beans up there until the camera near the top of the hill. Usually though, someone's sat in the right hand lane doing 30 all the way up in a 40 limit and I'm sure I can speak for most of you when I mutter to the other drivers, "For God's sake, live a little, why don't you?" I'm usually an extremely courteous and considerate driver but sometimes, the car just brings out the worst in me, particularly when people faff about! A couple more: I was once driving through the city and female pedestrian in her 30's was making her way across the street through standing traffic. She stopped infront of my car and gave me kisses and "bowed down" gesture. That was a pretty good ego boost. Another time I was driving back through residential-ville and there were these huge circular tailights a bit ahead. At first I thought skyline but when I caught up it was a new Ferrari 599 I kept a good distance and followed and he was going the same way as me, back to the motorway...... It was night and quiet so thought why not, pulled into lane 2 and gave him a sound of japanese bpu full decat. Pulled back into the first lane. He slowly pulled by me and I gave him the thumbs up and he returned the gesture which was pretty cool. He then gave it the full beans beside me, words dont describe what a Ferrari V12 on full chat, right beside you, sounds like but it was bloody amazing. Totally agree with the "witness a snaky convoy of Supra's"! If you watch the Dragonball video from earlier this year you will see plenty of that. Was superb & looking further ahead of a windy road to see Supra's burbling along. People's reaction too. On the last leg of Dragonball we had people coming out on the street to see what the noise was about. Everyone was waving & smiling happily, it was magical!
